Ive had about 11 Renault 5 gt turbos (shitters go for 4-5k now) one a real nice ph1 in electric blue. R5 Gordini Turbo and my last of the line R5 LeCar 2 Turbo. Clio 182 trophy (sold for 900 without the seats) 4 x Nissan 200sx's (s13 2x s14s and a 14a)
So pulling off is a pig sometimes and it likes to cut out every so often when coming to a stop and the revs drop, and even without being able to open it up, its FAST!. I know I've not driven anything really quick for a while but this thing will do nearly a 100 in a blink without trying and my...
Injectors done already and collected. I gave my buddy them with no info and he messaged me at lunch time saying they were done, all good and then made sure they were 480cc as that's what they came in at. So all clean and ready for mapping.
Slapped them in and the car started really well and...
Managed to bag some worn out but still super cool pedals for the Twingo. They were an optional extra in back in the day and I nearly got a set in 2007 (cant remember why I didn't in the end though). Totally forgot about them until someone on FB was saying they didn't want them and wanted to...
yep, fit the oil pan from the gearbox you want to run along with flywheel and clutch for alignment then drill the block for the smaller diameter block mountings. Ive done it before 197 engine to JC5 and my current twingo has the F4rt with a JR5. I've not seen a factory block with both sets of...
A few people have asked me if the cruise control buttons on my meg 250 rs wheel work. Well they didn't, but now they do. Though my car isn't wired for cruise control I do intend to add it and have it working so I set about getting the wheel wired up. Fairly simple to do as I'd already bought a...
I think drill bit gets used, drill bit goes blunt, drill bit gets hot drill bit goes blunt very quickly is more apt. Easy enough to re sharpen a drill bit on a bench grinder or even with an angle grinder if needed. Plenty of vids on you tube on how to re sharpen them. As an apprentice many moons...
Totally forgot about this thread, must remember to update it (y)
There's a 197 F1 on my close, I know the owner don't think he's on here though. Owned it since new!
A mate was taking the mick that I hadn't actually revved the engine out yet to test it. No load at idle but it didn't explode so that's good. Have a little chavtastic limiter bash (y) Nice and track friendly.
😭
Took it for a quick bounce around and the measured up, needed raise the front a touch more to get within the allowable for front to back difference but easily done quickly off a trolley jack. Has some gap now but should actually make it handle better 🤞🏻 its about as close as I can get it on...
Not sure what the stock exhaust size is but the sportex tapers down to under 1.75inch ID in the first mid box.
This is inside, the socket is 1.5OD for comparison.
Back on all 4. Looks like a 4x4 😭 will take it for a spin tomorrow hopefully, let the suspension resettle then check it all again and reset it a little closer again👍🏻
Mapping booked in for Sat 15th May (y) so ive got some time to road test and fix any issues with it.
Today I did the unthinkable, some thing that made me physically sick. I raised my suspension! I made it ok by tweaking the Dope a little lower though so life is still balanced lol
I kind of...
Yeah probably but ill do that further down the road. As above I'm looking to just set it somewhere close, I might decide the suspension is no good with the new engine and extra weight up front anyway so it may end out come off for something different.
Ok I've found the spec for the RS Twingo with and without cup spec so if aim for the same difference between front and back just slightly lower it should have a similar balance at a guess? or even just a decent starting point (y)
Hey all, for those who drive their Clio's more aggressively what heights do you have the car set at front and rear? This is for my Twingo with its engine swap but as its basically a Clio 172 but 4 inches shorter I though id rough it out similarly. Plus I'm more likely to get decent answers here...
So I was a little bored this morning and went through my notes of cost so far......
Total outlay (still more to pay for yet) £709.23 of which there was £114 for engine collection/delivery as I couldn't leave the house. I've also sold some some bits off the Twingo along the way totalling £581...
