Where is the cheapest place for the Ns2-r's? I might give them a bash :) I do like the RSR's for the price but the side walls are a little soft for my liking.
Reminds me a little of Scooty's old airbox. Would be pretty cool if you did the cover from clear perspex, not that you would see anything really.

Well, took the car into work today as that was the only place I could work in the dry!
Removed the backbox and put to one side to fully cool down which gave me time to fit the cat and new gasket kit in (Thanks to Adam @ Renault Wolverhampton for super fast delivery)
Once the pop rivets were...
will probably need to be cut open then tig welded after packing. I guess the good thing about this stuff is that it wont be rammed into the box so the heat penetration wont have any effects on it, if anything it will expand the packing slowly in which time the weld would have cooled down. :)
correct, the yozza race exhaust has the tip held in place by pop rivets. Simply drill them out, wrap this stuff around the centre baffle twice loosely and then rivet back up. When upto temp it expands and fills the area. This way it does not get over packed and reduce the efficiency. They have a...
I've bought some Accousta-Fil from Demon Tweeks, they said it was standard delivery so would be some time next week but it arrived next day :). Looking on the website I only need to use 240mm of the stuff so a 1/4 of the roll! It will expand when the exhaust heats up...
For reference I was...
small bump,
Has anyone bought any recently at a good price? Venair ones seem to be just over £200..

Call Fred, he sourced it for my engine and has used it on a few others with skimmed heads. They are a far better quality idler puller than the Renault ones too :) I think you might need to make a small spacer for this pulley, I don't think the centre boss sits back far enough but I could be...
Any tips on a good place to get some new touchup and step by step procedure? It's a deep scratch about 8" long and will require some of the old lacquer to be flatted down again first. I've just had a quote for the boot to be resprayed... £150 :(
Yup I built up small layers of paint then added the lacquer and flatted back. I will see how much it will cost for someone else to do it before I have another crack myself.
No, It dried pretty much instantly and was left in direct sunlight for 4-5 hours. Then left naturally for a couple of days in similar weather/sunlight. I think the paint is off or I'm just plain rubbish at doing this. I've never seen paint come away like this before.
Well I tried again with the nice warm weather, same result :( As soon as I started to flat down to the paint layer it was all jelly like and came off straight away. I've made a right mess so going to take it to a scratch repair place or full respray :(
My front pads need to be replaced so I've bought some Mintex 1144's at a good price. I will be using ATE Super blue as I still have some left over from the track car, is it really worth getting braided lines or will I feel a sufficient benefit with the pads and fluid alone? This is my daily 172...
It's a real shame to see so many engines/engine parts scrapped due to this one company. What are the plans next? Same as before or something a bit more special?
