    Impact Gun...(again)

I bow to the wisdom of the collective, cordless it is. Thanks

    Jack, stands

Thanks guys - much appreciated. I remember hearing good things about the Costco Arcan jack a few years back and it doesn't need to be particularly light as it's for home use. Definitely some options there.

    Jack, stands

CS delivers as usual.... thanks guys. SGS engineering jacks any good? They seem to have some good deals on at the moment.

    Jack, stands

Whats good these days for jacks and axle stands? Don’t mind spending a bit of money for decent quality kit so not looking at £30 eBay special jacks (unless they’re decent - some hope!) My t(rusty) old 2 tonne Halfords jack has served me pretty well, but it’s not low entry and is achingly slow...

    Impact Gun...(again)

Holy thread resurrection! Just wondering why the preference for wireless over wired? I’ll only ever be using one within range of mains power, is it just the cord gets in the way? I think I’m going to go for either the mains Clarke or the “eBay special” battery job, but have literally zero...

Office Suite for iOS - Recommendations?

I’ve got an Office 365 subscription so use that on the home PCs and iOS devices. Can’t fault it and get unlimited OneDrive storage too. Works out cheap if you buy a code from amazon every year and use the onedrive a lot.

    Battery the issue?

Takes the square root of sod all power compared to the load of starting the thing. Your symptoms sound exactly like those I'd expect from a goosed battery - a low battery voltage can cause absolute havoc with the electrics once it gets below a certain value. As you've had the alternator checked...

I would never have thought of hitting the horn, will file that one away!

    Volvo 940 TDIC Project

Love these big old buses. I usually hate the steelies look but your other one looks great on them.

    Low milage insurance cover?

Try A-plan's performance/hot hatch section in Thatcham - they are good for specialist/low mileage type policies. https://www.aplan.co.uk/personal/motor/specialist-motor-insurance/

    New car...again....Kit car content

But... but.... you're adding weight to the car! You'll need to remove some bolts to compensate, get rid of half the ones holding the wishbones on, it'll be fine.

    Pictures Of Your First Car!

Feel.... so..... old....... 1984 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6 L What a heap of crap that car was, but you never forget your first and all that. Had some experiences in it I'll always remember.

    Giulia Quadrifoglio new garage queen?

I love the Giulia, the 280 Veloce looks great but the Quadrifoglio is something else. One day. Oh yes, one day.

    PC Anti Virus

Antivirus is a difficult one, personally I think the days of downloading 3rd party anti-virus software are largely over unless you really need extra layers of protection and control in a corporate environment. Because of the way they work, AV products can actually introduce another surface for...

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Definitely, if I was running 4k I'd be after a 1080Ti or similar.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

I’m only running 2560x1440 so in all honesty anything better than a 1070 will just be wasted on stupid high frame rates that I personally can’t perceive anyway.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Graphics card market is insane ATM. I can’t remember a time when it made more sense to get one of the first wave of “founders edition” cards or whatever direct from nVidia than wait for the aftermarket because the prices are now so inflated. Bloody miners :D Still rocking my GTX970, fancy a...

Reading this is making me realise how much I want to get my garage sorted and get something to do a bit of spannering on. Damn.

Yeah, I'm almost tempted to advertise it stupid cheap just to avoid that. Almost :D

    Mossy's Cars

It’s up for sale, but in the most lazy, can’t-be-arsed-to-sell-it way possible..... It’s on here, one FB group and in the track car section of PH which hardly anyone ever uses. When I have the energy to deal with the general public I’ll put it up for sale in the main section of PH and brace for...

    Mossy's Cars

I can see that to be fair, the R26 is going to make a much more competent daily. I’ve got the Golf and the M3 sat on the drive and the heart says M3 but I take the Golf every time unless it’s purely for a hoon.

    Mossy's Cars

Isn't there some rule about previous owners getting first dibs when their old cars come up for sale? If not there bloody well should be ;) Hold onto it if you possibly can mate, you'll regret selling it, trust me on this.

Road legal track cars maybe a thing of the past... new mot rules

I don't think the guidelines have radically changed TBH, they've just re-clarified them. A friendly/sensible MoT tester should be fine with a track car as long as it's clearly modified as such, it's just finding one :D

    Mossy's Cars

Yowch! That's a lot of money right there, but sod the value, what a privilege to own one

Surely the MoT place don't even bother looking at your cars and just hand you a pass with no advisories? ;)

Is Silverstone any fun in a Clio?

Wow, that's value. £90 new on Amazon, very tempted. How have you mounted it? Looks like it has a fairly standard tripod connector?

Is Silverstone any fun in a Clio?

Wise words mate, I almost always get tuition because even if it's a track I know well there's always something else to tweak and the better instructors take where you are and work onwards from there. Got to agree with you about the cost of the car, I've never chucked anything around as much as...

It also helps if you can drive, @loggyboy clearly can, me not so much :D

Is Silverstone any fun in a Clio?

I’m in two minds about this one TBH. My opinion is probably somewhat coloured by the fact I’ve only been there once and overall it was a lousy day due to the track being greasy as hell and staying that way most of the day and also some of the worst driving I’ve ever seen. Firstly, Silverstone...
