Just let it do the updates mate, it can take a long time. Have you done the malware scan?
How full is the disk? When updates fail to install you should get an error code you can google to tell you why.
Edit: also, what GiT said. If you click on the arrow to the left of the “service host” bit...
Have you thought about standing up an EC2 instance and using that as the ping target/sender?
Amazon have a free tier which will let you stand up something suitable, and also your tutors will probably wet themselves with delight "because cloud" ;)

Just make sure...
@Geddes Have a look in the battery stats (Settings -> Battery) and see what the phone says is using power, might be an app update has gone bad and is flaying the battery. Also check the battery health (same place) and see if the maximum capacity has dropped off - might be a failing battery.
Continental premium contact 6 is worth a look - is supposed to blend the ride comfort and refinement of the premium contact 5 with the “sporty” driving characteristics (sharp turn in, grip, etc) of the sport contact 5. Reviews suggest that it does.
They've increased capacity at the exchange and/or cabinet, as fibre becomes more and more common they're putting in more kit and upgrading more cabinets.
The technology from the exchange to the cabinet is very different to the old ADSL stuff. From the speeds you're saying I'd think you have...
Aaaaaand, I'm spent.
New gaming rig:
1x 256Gb M2 SSD - system disk
1x 750Gb 2.5" SSD - games
1x 4Tb HDD - por...... er...... media
Old gaming rig:
1x 256Gb 2.5" SSD - system
1x 3Tb 3.5" HDD - don't care, currently being DBAN'd before sale
Old Plex server:
Empty
Remind me again why this stuff...
Renault parts direct had decent prices on the recaro seat base last time I looked (couple of years back) so might be worth emailing them for a price too.
Really nice monitors those 278Qs, sadly the overdraft does not permit :(
On call and a bit ill this weekend so have had some time to tinker with the new toy and work out what to do.
The storage drive is a WD Blue 5400 rpm job..... meh. Nothing wrong with that as a media storage drive. but...
Yeah fair comment, will certainly see a better return that way, used PCs have to be so cheap it's untrue to shift.
Only thing I'm dithering on is there's a 750Gb 2.5" SSD in there at the moment and I'm definitely noticing the difference in load times compared to the 250Gb M2 SSD plus 4Tb...
I have got away with it so far :D
Got to say, this is one hideous looking machine. The case is absurd - a proper old school full tower job that barely fits under my desk with an ITX motherboard hiding away in it. I've had very little time to play with it, it came with a completely vanilla Win10...
It’s a rediculous price, cheaper than even used stuff! it’s Zoostorm’s eBay store
http://www.ebaystores.co.uk/zoostorm-sales
They have a similar spec Ryzen 1700X machine for about the same price and some i7700 (not K) machines with hefty discounts too. Looks like they put their refurbs on...
They reduced it to £860 overnight. I just bought it.
By the time I’ve sold my existing machine that’s going to work pretty much the same as me just going out and buying a 1080.
Man maths always wins.
Maybe the OH won’t notice the big black box under my desk has suddenly become a big white...
Must...... resist................
The wife would actually kill me, and with good reason, we're about to spend a chunk of her savings on doing the house up. If a new PC arrives, that's going to be..... challenging..... to explain :D
Yeah never really enjoyed the driving that much in JC3, but then you have tons of choices as to how to get around so you can fly or parachute or whatever instead :)
I was very nearly in trouble. Found a system with this spec:
i7 7700K overclocked to 4.8 ghz
GTX 1080
16gb 2400 ram
256 M2 SSD & 4Gb HDD
Asus ROG STRIX Z270H motherboard
Watercooled
It’s a “scratch and dent” refurb job with 12 month warranty because of a small crack in the front of the case...
Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realise this was PistonHeads, I'll go to ClioSport instead :D
Today's characterless, bland, boring boxes are tomorrow's interesting, different, alternative choices. It has always been thus.
Do love me a nice retro car though.
