Re: My mk1 track car blog
the engine will be getting no more than breathing mods, not aiming for maximum output, just a light car with a decent engine, will do until the urge for more power overcomes me
This all sounds very very familiar lol. Good progress though fella:)
Got myself a set of cobra sazuka s seats and side mounts but now i need a pair of frames to mount them on. don't really want sliding ones just frames to give me somewhere level to mount them on. Anyone know where i can get some?
Oh yeah they're needed for a k plate valver.
Cheers, Chris
Cheers for the support fellas cars getting to the interesting bit now. Not much to report for a whole days effort today but we did work pretty hard all day basically removing all the wiring and switchgear we won't be using. Removed all the wiring for heated rear window, rear wash wipe all the...
Todays progress, Got the dash and the rest of the interior and sound deadening removed and managed to remove both the Renault alarm immobiliser and a few gastly aftermarket ones. Then swung the dash back in and checked everything still worked with these removed.
Once we'd established all was...
Just in case you are still considering the 182 conversion we've done it. You'd need to use 172 not a 182 and it'd be much easier if it were an early one without fly by wire (harder to come by). The wiring takes a bit of figuring out as there are so few wiring diagrams out there for the engine...
FINALLY, SOME PROGRESS WORTH TAKING PICTURES OF.
We spent most of last weekend stripping the entire interior (although that didn't seem to take all that long), but were unable to remove the dash due to a slight running problem we still need to sort.
With the interior out we've located...
This is on the 172 lump and even though the lambda's all sorted now the problem pesists. However we've been chatting to a few people and they told us to check the voltage on the tdc sensor and it appears to be low. Fingers crossed a new one will sold it and we can get on with more enjoyable things.
Has anyone encountered or would anyone be able to point me in the right direction to fix this problem. The car starts and runs lovely from cold and will continue running fine until warm then it tends to begin idling very high (about 2500revs) or cuts out all together. Once either of these has...
Gone for a 6 point weld in with door bars. Don't know if anyones interested but if I sort this roof skin i'll be able to supply more at £500 each if all goes to plan and i use the carbon fibre company i've been chatting with. Costly but think of the weight reduction from ditching the sunroof and...
Cheers mate, progress slowed significantly over the last couple of weeks as we had some issues with lambda wiring but thanks to the forum we're on track again now. Also as you know I’ve been on a big old buy up with some cobra buckets, an omp roll cage, fibre glass tailgate, quickshift, possibly...
Right, theres a sensor in the exhaust in the down pipe before the cat. It looks a like like a spark plug with 4 wires coming out of it (black, green and 2 white if my memory serves me correctly). The after about 10cm of wire there is a small 4 wire plug connection where the wires come out brown...
It's only got the 1 lambda on it didn't realise you could get phase1's with 2, lives and learn don't ya. I'm ok to wait i've written of trial and error as a pain in the neck so thats another job for another day. cheers
Basically if you have a phase 1 and you know your way arond the engine bay I need you to do me a favour. Could someone please take a look at the lambda plug on the engine loom for me and tell me which wires go to which letters (A, B, C, D it should be). Basically when we took our engine out the...
FURTHER PROGRESS REPORT!
Sorry for the lack of posts, I've not been about much.
We've managed to get some money together to further the project.

We finally got our ass's in gear, fitted the column, ordered and fitted some brake pads and removed...
plus chances are you won't be able to tension the v-belt as the teeth on the timing case will have rounded off in a previous attack. (Speaking from experience on two cars)
