Re: UCH Clicking Relay - flashing lights - juddering wipers- juddering window - solv
So after a fairly rubbish attemp to sort this out (as in it didn't work), I soaked the plug in contact cleaner again and no issues today whatsoever. Most odd...
With my theory that's it's a power or earth...
Re: UCH Clicking Relay - flashing lights - juddering wipers- juddering window - solv
Hi, yes I am aware that it's coded but cheers for the heads up. I'm hoping that I can test the electrical functions with the ignition on, as the lights, window, wipers etc. are the issue.
The UCH controls all...
Re: UCH Clicking Relay - flashing lights - juddering wipers- juddering window - solv
It is indeed random and annoying. Random isn't good for problem solving...
I'm going to pull the contacts out of the plugs and check them individually and plug them all in without the casing (providing they...
Re: UCH Clicking Relay - flashing lights - juddering wipers- juddering window - solv
If wiggling the plug solves it, it's very unlikely to be the UCH unit.
I've done a shed load of investigation today into what's what on the board and connectors, so will add that when I get time.
I think...
Got an intermittent issue with the ratcheted UCH plug, as described here -

My question is, what portion of the wiring loom do I need to...
Re: UCH Clicking Relay - flashing lights - juddering wipers- juddering window - solv
Well the honeymoon lasted a week. Problem is back, same cause but seems to be less items affected. Will do some more investigation and see what's going on. Might be that the loose connection is on an earth...
Right, no such problems today with the window or indicators with the exception that the indicators did not operate immediately after engine start. This may not have anything to do with this mod though... Got to love French electrics.
To complete the job, I've bought a 2W 220 ohm resistor to fit...
Has the Twingo inlet been done? Read that it might be possible but not found a thread with it done. What about the inlet off a Megane with the TB on the side? Thinking of fitting a spare 172 airbox I have, get rid of the stupid inlet design but keep it looking factory.
Measuring an old or dead relay might give a false reading, as will measuring in situ, due to the other components attached. The only true measurement would be a new relay not on a board... but then you've got to find a new relay...
I decided to identify which fuse controlled the occasionally...
Turns out that removing the locking wheel nuts is a lot easier when you find the key! Had a bit of a brainwave, as all the paperwork for the car was in one of the seat back pockets, so checked in there and it was lurking! Result. I must be stupid, as naturally the place for a locking wheel nut...
Close.. it's ACTB23 - http://www.panasonic-electric-works.com/peweu/en/downloads/ca_x61_en_automotiverelay.pdf
Just checking the coil resistance and it looks to be 225 Ohms (page 78 onwards).
I have an odd thing with the driver's side window and a few other things not working properly, so I...
Re: UCH Clicking Relay - flashing lights - juddering wipers- juddering window - solv
When I took the pins out, the retaining clips did look to have been flattened, so I opened them out a bit but other than that, everything looked along the right lines...
All free things to look at, so hope...
So, I took off the Dynamique centre caps (naturally, there was no key for them, so I had to use a hammer and punch) and found, to my obvious(?) excitement, that there were a full set of McGard style lockers on there, of course, the ones with the spinning outer rings... So, not remembering any...
When I got the 1.6 16v and went to pick it up, there was an odd issue with the UCH relays clicking away and the lights flashing, windows juddering, wipers juddering (electrically) etc. After some research, I decided on balance to buy the car anyway but got a suitable discount to cover a...
As far as I can surmise, the only function of the relay is for the one-touch function but as there's no one-touch activated on the passenger side, it's therefore redundant. As I said in the write-up, the feed is fused by the 30 amp window fuse at the fusebox and is a switched live anyway, so...
I've just picked up a 2003 ’53’ Clio 1.6 16V Dynamique 3 door as a runaround and it had a couple of issues, one of which was the passenger side window not working. I did a lot of searching and saw that there were lots of possible things that I needed to check, so I decided to get on with it...
I do like the OZs and had been looking at them. Guess it's a matter of what crops up at the right price, as it's just sensible daily transport and so I must stop myself from going too mad :) A set of Turnins like the 172 would be nice, they really suit the car well but are £££...
Just picked up a 1.6 16v Dynamique as a runaround and it's got the stock twisted 5 spokes on it. I'd like to get something a little more special on there, in 15 inch with 195/50R15 on them. Been looking at Turbines and Williams Speedlines, as I'd like something a bit classic and direct fit. Any...
Been doing a bit of looking about & searching, as the cambelt on the 172 is due for replacement in December. So far, I've phoned City Motors Renault (£705 incl. WP & DP) and Renatec (awaiting price). Anywhere else to try in the local area? Seen Longwell Green mentioned and a few places further...
Cheers, I wanted to show what was happening when I encountered this issue and also that the solution was simple, cheap and effective.
I still have my washers, they were for sale but there were no takers. Let me know if you're after some:-...
Thanks for that information. Do you have any pictures of the 2 side by side? As per post 2, I was told that the lower arms were the same when I inquired at Renault.
Is it the arms or the ball joints that are different? It would be good to know!
Thanks for the numbers but the question is what causes the differences as most of the parts that could cause the castor change are common to all ph2 models according to the Renault parts system.
