Well I got back from Oulton Park yesterday, engine bay up just to check fluids and on a closer inspection there seems to be a lot of oil around the highlighted section.
The thing that really confuses me, its really thick oil. In fact its more like grease than oil. However after a quick look...
Well I received the car back from Fred@BTM with the cambelt complete and rocker re-sealed.
Could have stood outside talking to Fred for ages, sadly I was mega ill however we did discuss some suspension ideas to improve the overall feel of the car. Fred also found what the 'misfire' was, who...
Without fitting what sort of price would I be looking at?
Really interested in this as well as swapping over to the 'Cup' shocks and some sort of lowering springs.
Not keen on KTR coilivers it has at the moment and to be honest they are starting to 'crash' slightly so in need of swapping soon.
Just a quick question.
Obviously things wear over time, is it worth swapping bits of the suspension to get that 'fresh' pin point steering?
Whats needed and does it make much of a difference?
Great pictures!
Great day! We were the silver 172 with names printed on the back.
2nd lap we managed to boil the brakes so was nursing it the rest of the day.
I've yet to find a pad as good as the XP10.
I'm not sure Ian does anything off the shelf for the Clio but I'm certain he can make the pads up. May have to speak with him later in the month as like you say they are mental!
Think I may try the DS3000 next to be honest.
Although the CL pads do get a good review on here! I always thought the RC5 was more of a DS 2500 type pad?
No worries, thank you. It would have been ideal if I was after a weld in cage.
But as the clio may only be a 12 month project until I get track experience I think a bolt in is the best option for me as it can be removed upon sale.
Either a full or rear not 100% committed to either style yet.
I did notice MF on the safety device website but was wondering if there were a closer place?
For anyone else in the future.
BTM diagnosed it as HT leads.
Who ever messed with the car before I bought it didn't fit them correctly and resulted in them being burnt.
After a little information if possible.
As I'm new to the clio world I'm unaware of specialists / companies.
Around Xmas I will be looking for a roll cage for the 172. After a bolt in cage as when selling the car its an option to remove. Also I'm looking into a 'safety device' version as...
I have Brembo Max HC pair with those dodgy EBC redstuff pads.
Cant say I'm overly impressed , I may buy a rear set of redstuff pads for the 8th for the sake of £45.00. But I don't hold much hope. I really do need to find a better compound pad but a little difficult as no doubt I will be...
No worries.
Dropped the car off to Fred@BTM last night. On the way up there the car suddenly developed a 'problem' all of a sudden lost power and sounded like it had some mighty aggressive camshafts.
Damn French crap been nothing but problems but hopefully Fred can sort the problem/s without...
Last week I was trying to get my brother insured on our 172 'track' car but him being 20 no one could help.
Think we may wait until Feb when he's 21 and go with the cheapest available...
Another one here, wouldn't launch a Japanese 4WD car unless major transmission work had been carried out.
Not sure on GTIR but certainly Evo range all you ever do is find the next weakest part when upgrading transmission parts. swap the clutch , gearbox goes, swap the gear box AYC goes. New AYC...
If people were after great build quality, doubt they'd be on a clio forum...
I'm not sure the OP understands spare parts are not as readily available as one might expects and would cost more to run, maintain and upgrade.
I'd go for an Evo over a GTIR but reading between the lines I'm not sure...
