I still have my original set of pads that are over 3 years old.
As above wash them after every use and all is fine.
I have killed the odd pad in between but not many.
The no brainer choice to get these days is the Meguiars G220- UK machine with warranty, no need for transformer etc.
I would get it with Sonus SFX pad sets - both the full sized ones and 4 inch spot pads/ backing plate as they are a must for a Clio.

I tend to wipe the car down after waxing with a detailing spray to get a perfect finish - will remove any wax smears or bits you may have missed.
Can also be used to remove an light dust the car may have accumulated in the garage, odd finger prints etc and also to aid drying by adding...
I rarely use the CF fluid myself these days before any of my Swissvax Waxes.
I would get some Menzerna Final Finish to complement your Intensive Polish. The finish the Final Finish leaves is awesome, I go straight from that to wax.

They where awesome to watch, can't believe how twitchy they looked just going through Westway.
The lense should be ok, though I need a filter as I am worried about wiping the Glass all the time.
My normal processes.
Wash and clay as needed.
Duragloss Wash or Meguiars Shampoo Plus or Hyperwash
Lambswool Mitt
Meguiars or Sonus Clay
Decent Drying Towel.
Then either
1 - Working by hand.
