I know your pain, been trying to find a mint 106 GTi for months, despite having no actual budget - ie will pay top money for the right car still can't find one.
My Processes on Black Gold
Wash - Meguiars Shampoo Plus
Clay - Anything non agressive
Machine Polish as needed with Menzerna Intensive Polish and/or Final Finish
Prep paint for Sealant with Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Seal with Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection or Jeffs Acylic Jett Trigger
Wax -...
Same prep before any wax type product. The wax is mainly to protect the paintwork.
Wash, Clay and Polish.
The main bulk of looks an appearance come in the Polishing stage.
To get the best of of Black Gold it will need to be machine polished really, I gave up on mine and ended up getting a machine.
By hand I used to get better results with Glaze type products and a nice Carnuba wax.
Of the shelf your only real option is Meguiars Scratch X, fairly safe in cut so you will need lots of elbow grease. You could also grab some AG Paint Renovator but it is fairly aggressive and old fashioned and can leave T Cut type marks.
I would look into using either:
Car-Lack 68 - Hand...
Not one have used. I have some AG Clean wheels I use if I really have to.
AG Engine and Machine, APC or normally just car shampoo.
If you do go down the Wonder Wheels route chances are it will noticeably dull the finish so be prepared to repolish the wheels after.
Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread
That was the place, was talking Brembos with the guy after words, real petrol head with a 911 ands loads of bikes.
Worth stepping up to the bug guns in wheel acids if you have to, look into Wonder Wheels, not one I would normally recommend unless you really need it.
Also worth trying a claybar to see if that lifts it.
Apply it with a foam hand pad, work it until it is all/nearly all gone not leaving anything on the paint, then wipe straight away with a clean microfiber.
I have a bottle that I have only used a few times. Looks wise can get looks close to what a Carnuba produced but I still ended up topping it with wax, was easy on and off as off as non spray sealants go. Ended reaching for the Jeffs AGT every time as it is so much quicker and on Silver I can't...
By Machine Menzerna is a great option I would not choose the 3.02 to work by hand.
A Oily glaze like Clearkote before a sealant is pretty much a waste of time, I go straight to the waxes after them these days.
Nothing to lose giving it a try, but removing even minor marks out of glass takes so effort and doing this the risk of distorting the glass is high. Mostly looks worse.
