Got the car home late this afternoon:
Not done much just put the rear light clusters in with silvervisions, put the bumpstrips and handles in along with the mirrors and spoiler and made sure all the rubbers are back in place
Still along way to go but you get the idea, the wheels and...
Yep the bay is still silver but thats all that'll be visible
The bodyshop in question has had quite a few cars from me and my mate over the last 18 months so we get a good rate especially as this ones is to keep
Very nice indeed, get mine back this afternoon!
I went for a Vauxhall white aswell for the same reason
Mine will be externally more of a racer theme without painted moulding etc
What colour was it before?
Spray is just short of four figures i've done the 'labour'
Dynamique spoiler = £35
Cup Splitter = £40
Wheels = £479
Tyres = £220
Springs = £50
Bumpstrips and handles = Free
Silvervisions = £20
Recovery truck = £20
Then i've got the original stuff to sell like wheels/tyres, bumpstrips...
I'll defo get it built up asap
Suspension: it'll just be on 40mm springs for the FCS then coliovers after that
Exhaust: is booked it at AAS in Newcastle for a custon build using a 182 exhaust trim for the 'factory' look
The doors, boot and bonnet are back on along with the skirts
There's no locks or rubber seals in yet so the doors won't hold shut but you get the idea from the pics below
Its a bit 'fridge' like that'll soon change once the black bits get fitted
The glass is getting bonded back in...
I wouldn't say its cheap
2nd hand subframe = £60
Fitting including doing the tracking = £150
Repaint the roof properly = £200 probably more if other areas of the car are finished poorly
With no pre repair photos it'll be a nightmare to sell on plus i'd say the roof has been creased and...
Two nice subtle cars there
What white is it?
It looks more 'creamy' than mine when you compare the white of the front bumper to the white of your front number plate although the plates look quite old
I personally wouldn't consider painting a black car white
I purposely bought this 172 in silver with the intention to paint it white from the outset
Bodyshops vary alot in price, i'd be more worried about getting a guaranteed quality finish than the price, you need somewhere with a spot on...
Opel/Vauxhall Casablanca White, there's about 5 different variations of it but all of them have either a blue or yellow tint except one which is the one I went for
Because i'm going for white wheels I needed a white white paint without a hint of another colour as it would look daft
It'll look exactly as the picture does in the first page of the thread with black spoiler, handles, and bumpstrips.
I might colour code the handles white at a later date but i'll decide when I get it all built up
I'd expect the back aswell
I know AdamRs on here put some on his mk1 ages ago so he may well be worth giving a shout to ask exactly what he used

You can get it done alot cheaper than that but with most things you get what you pay for
If the respray was crap the car would be devalued, my old valver was painted and painted very well to a point that it probably enhanced the car rather than being detrimental. It certainly didn't hinder...
