Cupsize,
"Matt - I started on a 1.2 8V and they are slow - end of story - its a fact" - I agree that 1.2 8V are slow. I had a loaner for a week and can confirm it was the most god-awful slow piece of metal Ive ever driven. No arguments there... But we were all talking about the 1.2 16V - a...
Cupsize. I dont really see your point mate. Weyland was confirming (as we all already accept) that the Cup is a quicker car: It really damn well should be too, seeing as its just the same as a 172, but without all the heavy (and nice) stuff, meaning its got less to lug around... If it was not...

Ive raced a 16v around Elvington airfield and it felt little (if any) different to my Mk1 172 mate! (Actually it didnt feel too disimilair (sp?) performance wise either until about 3rd!!! Doh!)
Is the throttle thing just a fly-by-wire issue?

Hahahaha! Stop it with the cripple gear stick thing! I keep giggling like a child whenever I read it! Ive told you before GR, you have to be more Politically Correct - the badger-loving slow-whitted cripple-stick users in their moon mobiles may get angry otherwise...

Chris has got a Y-reg Mk1 172 in Iceburg Silver... Mine was the oldest 172 there and mines an X plate. Maybe youre thinking of your first meet when Captain brought along the AP-22?

Okay, I know what a decat pipe is, but what is the law on de-catting your car? Everyone just puts the cat back on for MOTs, but what happens if youre spot-checked by the rozzers/pigs/little hitlers?
Do they just give you a VDRS form so you get 14 days to fix it, or is it possible that youd get...
Wongy - I was just happy for ya - thats all... :) (Plus I was in a silly mood )
Whats this about throttle action in your 172? My Mk1 (cable operated throttle) is razor keen on the accelerator at anything over 3000rpm! I assumed the newer 172s (fly-by-wire throttle) would be just as good...

Im so happy that Ive become exceedingly giddy, and Im currently skipping around in a big circle, tapping a key on each lap (tired now)...
Phew! glad youre back in the flying machine and out of that tooslow4you 172. They truly are slow arent they?
My mum recently rejected her Clio dCi (not a bad motor actually!) after a load of failed attempts to correct bodywork problems. Renault and the dealers were more than apologetic and we had no hassles rejecting it. Do a search on the internet - I think its all covered by the sale of goods act and...

Comparing these pics to yours they look virtually the same! (except mine looks a couple of years older!) apart from the extra mount for your second lambda sensor... Didnt remember my cat looking so amateur-night welded! Oh well, maybe Ill look into a different exhaust and a de-cat? :D
Utter b*stard! Its removed the ".JPG" extension of my pictures. Pants! Just click these instead!!!

No probs mate, Ill take the pics over the weekend and (attempt) to post them! At the end of the day, if the car runs happily with it in place, then I wouldnt worry too much about it... It might even be an incentive to get a de-cat done! ;)
