You cant put a private plate on a car and make it look newer. ie If I bought R1 DAN I could not put it on a car any older than a 1997 reg. Sounds like it was just registered late, my 172 is on an 04 plate but according to the manufacturer it should be a 182.

Sounds like you should reject this car mate. I had many problems with a BMW I bought about 5 years ago, from day 1 it was just a lemon. After 6 months of pi$$ing about, going to and from the dealer BMW were good enough to replace this car with a brand new one.
