Thanks for the info Rod, Theres alot more to think about than I thought. There will definately be more questions i need answering so thanks for the offer.
Is EBD traction control?
Ive seen a deal from motorpoint in burnley for a brand new 172 for £11999, would this be a legitimate deal as its quite alot cheaper than a ren dealer? Im just concerned that there might be some catch somewhere along the line.
Thanks
I will be shortly buying one of these cars, just wanted to know what the standard car comes with and what the options are, like do they all come with leather? ect..
Thanks
Thanks guys and gal, Ive been looking on the net and found a place doing a cup for 10990-This is the reason Im pondering over weather to get a second hand one as for a little more I can get new. Also there are a few mrk2 172s on the auto trader for 8995- are these to cheap? ie have accident...
When you say top mounts do you mean the cup like tops that you can see from inside the engine bay, basically the last thing that bolts on to the top of the strutt??
Just an idea- Take off the top of the dash(4 screws) and see if the red and yellow wires on the left hand side have been bridged or still have the four black wires from the immobiliser running off them.
This is where the immobiliser breaks the circuit to the starter and fuel pump, cant...
I had the same thing happen to me last year, turned out to be the alarm/immobiliser. I disconnected it and now its been fine for ages.
Renault are useless at fault finding, they just seem to work out the most obvious possible causes and the replace parts by trial and error which any tom, dick...
Ben, could you give a price on the steering column parts for a williams (C57M). Ive got play where the column goes into the lower universal joint.
Thanks mate
Best thing to do is to get the tyre taken off, buy one off those wire brush attachments for a drill and go over the inner rim taking off all the loose paint and rust untill you get down to clean bare aluminium, but be careful not to push to hard as the alloy is soft and easily damaged. This will...
I just ordered them so I hope it makes as much of a difference on mine. I just want it to cure the wondering problem I have had for ages. People have metioned that the camber might be out and said it cant be adjusted but if the top mounts are worn this will affect the camber wouldnt it? So thats...
Car body shops sometimes have sand blasting machines, worth phoning around. Or Put the spare wheel on and take the alloy down to a tyre place and get them to take the tyre off for you and you can wire brush around the inside rim to get all the flakey paint off then that bead sealer they use is...
No its not the cable as I took it off at one end and there was no resistance at all. I think the problem lies in the throttle body but Ive heard of people fiddling with it and not being able to get it idling smoothly again-deffinatly dont want that!
When in traffic I find it difficult to drive smoothly as my accelerator is really jerky, I have disconected the cable and checked it and it is tottally free.I also checked the pedal which was ok. I sprayed some grease on the throttle body where all the springs are but this didnt make a...
Ive already replaced most of the front suspension (including the bearings) except these doughnut bushes, which hopfully are causing my steering problems.
Ill look out to see how yours is after replacing them.
James as you know the price I presume you replaced them, what was your car like to drive before doing them? ie. did you just get a noise or did it affect the steering?
Ben have you got any idea of a price on the doughnut rubber mount? (C57M)
And what about the top cup mount that bolts to the shock from the engine bay does this need replacing?
Thanks mate.
Does the top mount wear and what are the symptoms if it is worn?
I replaced my dampers and when I looked at the top mounts although not in very good condition I thought that they were not that important as they only contact with the bearing and that surface seemed ok. Im probabley totally...
For what its worth I had a brand new renault pump fitted and I still get oil comming out the hole in the cap sometimes but the level seems ok never have to top it up. As for the noise when turning(not full lock) I get this first thing in the morning when getting out of a tight space, I just try...
I had this problem a few weeks ago and traced it to a worn inner trackrod ball joint. First I would jack up the front and see if there is play on both sides, if only one side check the trackrod outer joint for play, if thats ok undo it and pop it out with a ball joint seperater and see if there...
I had the classic symptoms for a worn dog bone(rocking back and forth of the gear leaver) so I changed the dog bone mount for the one from andyspares(£11). It hasnt made any difference at all!
Could it be that its the other mounts are worn and are causing the movement in the engine and would...
Ive had the tracking checked once at a tyre place a couple of weeks ago, seemed an okey sort of place they had laser tracking gear. but I might get it checked again to be sure. wheres the best place thats nationwide? kwikfit?
