    Replacement air filter for valver

    Try the mechanical forum for the quickest result mate! The best option for power - and power alone - is IMO a replacement filter element in the original airbox (something like 1bhp if youre lucky!). For noise - and noise alone, perhaps with a loss of power on hot days - try any of the brands...

    Best place for a driving hol in UK

    Make it Wales - and mid Wales to be more specific. Ive spent time in Scotland, but as a Welshie I can tell you there are no finer roads in the UK. Otherwise try south western Ireland.

    Williams is gone :(

    Just watched David (aka Smokey Mcpot) drive off with my pride and joy, in exchange for a large cheque. :( Im happy that its gone to someone who clearly loves the car already and itll be interesting for him to compare it with his Cup. I spent the whole morning moping around, not so much...

    heavy clutch

    My 16V and Willy clutches have been very, very heavy - even my Mk1 1.2s was! If its a real bother you can get a "soft pedal" conversion from BB Tuning.

    Cleaning Seats

    I just use Halfords own stuff. Theres a trigger spray and a foam can. Both work very well.

    Crap trade in price!

    There was the option of air con on later Cups IIRC and a few came in silver.

    Diesel Renaultsport Clio

    The reason I cant see a diesel-engined Clio being a B-road whizzard is the issue of the power band. Id have thought a mighty diesel would either give too much power in too small a rev-band or run out of puff between gear changes. I dont think you could use the throttle to adjust the stance and...

    Diesel Renaultsport Clio

    Nowt wrong with diesel technology or tuning. But one gear on B-roads wont do! Not Renault hot hatch style IMO - wont marry with the handling.

    Diesel Renaultsport Clio

    Remember that the reason were talking about major power gains from diesels is because theyre using forced induction. An equivalent turbo petrol will also make large gains. Regarding V8 revs etc... Id never advocate a V8 for a B-road hot hatch either.

    Diesel Renaultsport Clio

    I think that powerful TD engines are great for lots of driving. For B-roads though, I favour a balanced engine with low-down torque and a linear torque curve all the way to a high red-line. Its not asking the impossible as the Willy F7R certainly does this, but Ive yet to see a TD with...

    RENATEC!! best service ever!

    Good old Lyndon. Itll be a shame that my next car wont be a Renault.

    Gutted for you Pete. :( Hope it all gets sorted and that beautiful Naples Valver of yours is back on the road asap.

    03 1.2 16v vs. mk1 ph1

    The car that take the induction kit off first will be quicker! Id have thought the RT would be in a better position to start with anyway: same 75bhp as the later 1.2 16v, with a better torque curve and less weight.

    Williams-----> V6

    Come on then, what are people getting for the 1/4 mile in 172s, CTRs and so on? Low 15s, high 14s? Thats exactly what Williams get!! A few tens of bhp extra bhp are great until you consider the modern weight issues. There wasnt a more powerful small hot hatch than the Willy until the 172...

    Williams-----> V6

    The Cup was a Group N homologation car - not quite the same cachet as Group A, but then whats a Group between friends? :D As for the Willy needing more power and only being a fraction quicker than a Valver etc. Oh I cringe :( Do I really have to reel one of my histories with all the details...

    Williams-----> V6

    I dont think the Willy is over-hyped. It is rightly remembered as the best hot hatch of its day and it doesnt seem that anything has actually taken that mantle away from it yet. There are faster and more comfortable hot hatches on the market today, but none is clearly head and shoulders above...

    Williams-----> V6

    Im selling mine and also love the V6, so I dont have a vested interest. But wherever I park up, whatever filling station Im at and at lots of traffic lights people are stumbling over themselves to get a look and ask me questions. People always know what a Williams is... or 50% of them at...

    Williams-----> V6

    Between all three Williams, there were about UK RHD 1100 made. The Willy isnt really comparable with the V6. The V6 is a modern-day Turbo 2. In common with the Turbo 2, the Willy was a homologation special - but it was based more closely on the cooking hot hatch (Clio 16V) in looks terms...

    172, Corsa or Mk4 Golf

    The Golf shouldnt really be considered as a hot hatch, because it isnt. The average non-sporting saloon would give a MK4 Golf a pasting along B-roads, which is where a hot hatch should be at its best! As a comfortable A-B car, then a Golf might suit better. But then you should also...

    Williams V6 gossip

    Crazyness - Williams as a Scooby wannabee? Sin! Scandal! The Willy hit the streets in its trademark colour combination a good few years before the Scoobies started appearing in the same colours!

    Williams vs VTS =

    By test figures (old 1990s Autocar tests), the VTS is identical to Valver performance - and loses out by 4 secs to the ton against the Willy, as does the Valver. Going on that and knowing the VTS relies on high revs, Id have said that the VTS would in most situations be enough to keep a...

    front door speakers in a mk 3

    A Mk3? There isnt one mate. Have a look at "The history of the Clio" on the main site - thatll help you match up which car you have. If your car is a "Clio 16V" then itll be a Mk1 Ph1 (1991-94) or Ph2 (1994-96).

    Is it worth the 200 mile round trip

    I bought my Williams in London because there were none for sale in Wales at the time. My girlfriends parents have a place there, so I based myself there and went hunting! Central London often has low mileage cars as they dont tend to get that much use in the week. No offence mate, but the...

    Engine Cover etc

    The problem with finding an aftermarket exhaust for a 172 is that because the exhaust pipe is hidden, any new exhaust back box will have to come lower to protrude from the bumper. Hope you like your Exclusive - good number youve got there. An Exclusive would be top of my shopping list were...
