Roll on 3 years!! :D
I remember back in 2001 you could just about get a decent Valver for £5k that was six or seven years old.
The 172/182 will be reaching those figures at 3/4 years old!!
No - on the contrary! Ive done 9k miles since I bought it on 54k miles last October (8/9 months). I dont drive it to work that often, but I do a lot of "pleasure" mileage like holidays and general blasts - thats what I bought it for!
Get the car looking mint with a proper clean/wax inside and out - and keep it that way (unless it already is). A car with that low mileage should sell very quickly if you price it within the range of similar cars.
If theres a service due, then it might be best not to advertise a little...
Cant be of that much help Im afraid.
What I do know is that the Clio 16V was rallied in Group A (yes, as in against Immprezas, Cossies etc) from 1991-3, when the engine was replaced with a Williams lump - it later evolved into the famous Maxi Clio. With the 2.0, it was the fastest FWD NA...
Volvo C70 T5 GT. It wont handle as well as a Williams or V6, but then you wont be interested in that sort of stuff will you ;)
I heard some turbo monster behind me the other day approaching rapidly... turned out to be an M-reg green Volvo T5 estate! Cool as fugg and modified to buggery under...
Its because we have lower income tax, VAT and corporation tax than comparable countries (quite a lot lower in some cases). Im not saying its the best way of raising tax, as its currently very volatile - but if they chop the tax on fuel it will be raised somehow else.
Be careful though - I looked at six 106 GTis on the strength of similar praise to what its getting here.
Most of them were right nails and even the perfect ones just werent my cup of tea. If youre used to control on the limit with a Williams, then youll have to re-learn your driving style...
I suppose that this is one of the best adverts for using a trusted Renault specialist.
I know it doesnt really apply if you have a new car under warranty, but for an older car like the Willy, Renault wont have seen one for nearly a decade and will still treat it like they treat all the...
Well, on the Ph2 172 theres only the four colours (silver, black, blue and red). Id personally look for a blue or red one because the silver isnt unique enough (for me) and I had a black car - pain in the bum to keep looking mint!
Actually, Id be searching for a Ph1 172 in the rare...
Phil - I actually saw BOTH the silver 172s youre on about within the space of about ten seconds! They both passed each other in opposite directions going through Dinky Poo. I was walking up to the pub at the time, just outside the Texaco garage.
The Barry-based one has some sort of air feed...
Whose is the 04 reg silver one Phil? I think I saw that last night blasting through Dinas Powys on the main road (when I was on the way up to the pub).
Should have pulled him over and jumped into my Williams so I could show him how its done properly! ;)
The Lotus Elise was originally intended to use the Renault F7 series of engines (as in Clio 16V & Williams) - so BenR tells me. Renault pulled out when they got the go-ahead for the Spider though.
Dont get a 16V manifold on the Willy lump. Despite what people say, I found out the other day that it robs the 2.0 of torque because of the larger tracts. Why else would Renault have gone to the trouble of making a one-off custom steel one for the Willy?
I think you should try and get a drive in both cars before settling the question.
IMO the Willy lump is great as it will give the car balance, just as a standard GT Turbo lump does in the body of a GT Turbo. Turning up the bhp may lead to a car that is devastatingly quick in a straight...
If you liked the Willy then you may want to avoid a 16V as itll be 90% of what you had before and itll make you want another Willy!
Id give the Pug 306/106 GTis a try. The Saxo VTS is of course almost identical. Just dont expect them to be mint - as I found when I almost bought a 106 GTi. :(
Im not deciding on anything straight away. The thing is that I know the Willy is a proper one off - Ill never get No.123 again or a car in such good nick, nor will any other car I buy fulfil a teenage dream. This is the problem with selling the Willy.
On the other hand, no matter how long...
Its not just the miles - its the fear of parking it in the city centre, of having it serviced every 6k miles, of having to go out of my way to find spare parts.
What is the hang-up with the sprint to 60? It doesnt tell you much apart from giving you bragging rights to non-car nut mates at the pub.
The site has the Willy down as 7.7 to 60, which incidentally is wrong - makes the car look slower than its new brethren. But all that is needed is a...
