    MeganeCup

It would be interesting to see what is made of any Megane Cup. The regular Renaultsport Megane seems to be a little off the conventional hot hatch radar and the 19 16V has all but disappeared from memory (despite being a really excellent car) - unlike the GT Turbo, Clio 16V and Williams.

    Quarter Mile Comparisons

That web page is dangerous and inaccurate! Tell me the last time you saw a Ssanyong Musso 4x4 take out a Clio 16V!!!!

Williams Period radio now back in.

Ive got the same head unit in my Williams 1 (came from a dead Willy 3). I know its not totally original, but it sounds a hell of a lot better than a Willy 1 tape deck does!

    172/cup prices

Ive been watching their prices recently - it seems that the lowest for a privately traded Ph2 172 is about £7500 and about £8500 for a Cup (which is a younger car).

    What a refreshing change!

There are soon to be new EU regulations saying that you can buy and service your new car anywhere and keep the warranty intact.

    Serious dilemma

Cheers guys. Getting and running another car is out of the question. It just doesnt add up when I take account of double insurance, tax, servicing etc. Plus theres the fact that whatever I have to put towards a new car (£2-5k) wont go very far in buying a second car that would be reliable...

    Serious dilemma

Its not a matter of garaging it - I could leave it at home. I need one car that is a compromise between the practicalities of every day use and is still a hot hatch. I cant do 20,000 miles a year in a Williams.

    Serious dilemma

Last autumn, I started my first proper job having completed a Masters and sold my mint Valver. At the time, I forsaw that I would be doing bigger miles and looked into a 172 and Cup, but shied away because of the prospect of finance (I prefer the old way of saving then buying). In the end I...

    172 Ph1 choice

Well, Im not really the moding sort and have been extremely restrained in keeping my Williams 100% standard. Id love an Exclusive and a Sunflower 172. Time will tell.

Thats right. Hmm. Mulling things over.

    Possible new owner...

In general terms, people here regard the Ph1 172 as quicker than the Ph2. This might be due to the engines freeing up with age though (as was the case with the 16V and Williams of old). The earlier Ph1 172s came with an alloy bonnet for that essential weight saving! ;) I may be looking for a...

    Renault Id Paint

Id definitely be hunting for a Paddock Green or Yellow 182 if I ever get one, just like my target Ph1 172 would be an Exclusive in Scarab Green or Sunflower Yellow. My parents have got a 1.2 Dynamique on order for my bro and thatll be in Nordic Green - looks just like a black with a...

    172 Cup with Exalto2 Tyres

Ive got four Pilot Exalto 2s on my Williams in 185/55/15. Lovely tyres, just a little expensive. I wouldnt make claims about 0-60 reduction (just take a dump before you go for a drive instead), but theyre nice and do the job better than any other tyre Ive had.

    172 Ph1 choice

Which would it be... 172 Exclusive or... 172 in yellow (whats the proper name?) Hmmm ;)

    Coolant question

Just watch the level after youve topped it up. If it drops again within a month or so, then theres likely to be a small leak.

    Finance into personal loan (RFS)

It would be most straightforward to: 1. Sell the car privately 2. Get a settlement figure and pay off RFS 3. Take out a personal loan 4. Buy the new car This way is probably best as you may find loan people reluctant to issue a loan while you have an agreement with RFS as well.

oh dear oh dear! advice please!

Get a standard Williams or fit some 16V leather to your 2.0 beast.

    New car / Old car

Id be careful Martin. Ive thought this a few times (including last year when the Cup was still a new car), but have shied away. Ive just spent £600 on my Williams over the last few days, but fortunately Ive got a nice example that hopefully wont need much attention for a while again...

    help pls

Are they painted blue or or are they blue plastic? If theyre blue plastic, then try something like Autoglym "Exterior Trim" stuff. If theyre painted blue, then surely theyd only go white if theyd faded?

    NUTS

I wouldnt use a set of locking wheel nuts. You may do them up by hand, but all it takes is one garage to use too much force, or a bit of corrosion to lock them in place and make them a complete pain. I just spent three days trying to get a set of mine off. The key broke and for a day or...

wanna change my car! advice please

Before this turns into a Williams buying thread, make sure that you know what its like to own one in cash terms. At this point I feel like saying something like burn £200 in front of your eyes every month:cry:, but its not all that bad. Ive just had to spend £350 on tyres, £200 on bodywork and...

    Stickers

I always have Renault make me up some plates and get a dealer sticker/tax holder as on an older car it makes it look like a one-owner minter with full Renault s/h etc etc! http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/10/web/286000-286999/286766_59_full.jpg
