My dad has recently given his Octavia RS back to the company car pool. As standard, it wasnt quite as quick as my tuned Valver, although it felt it because of the masses of torque it had.
Still, if I were looking at a Golf/Audi/SEAT in 1.8T flavour, I would take this car over them all...
I had the exact same wheels on my 16v in anthracite and I didnt really like them. They came with the car, so I chopped them in and got some refurbished original Phase2 wheels - much better!
Before...

Sounds like the diff to me, from what you say in the first post. When mine went it had the same symptoms as youre describing. The juddering was the main problem. It just suddenly happened and would get worse the higher up the revs I went. I limped it home at about 2000rpm all the way and the...
Yeah, the only stickers I have on the outside are the Renault "alarme" ones on the side, "Renault Cardiff" in the back and a "Renault/Rothmans/Williams" one where the "Renault/Elf" should be! You get no warning with my car!
Dont need it mate. But if you are worried you can get a low temp sensitivity thermostat and fan switch from http://www.bbperformancetuning.co.ukwww.bbperformancetuning.co.uk.
Any good bodyshop will be able to do it for you as long as they put plates in over the holes, but Id think carefully as having two doors newly painted on an older car can look funny if the colour match isnt perfect. With a bonnet or boot it isnt so bad, but with doors it would show a mile away...
High mileage Valvers have usually had all the problems that are going to come up and have had them sorted. Theyre the next best thing to finding one with really, really low miles in many respects.
There can be really very few cars that are only fit for only 45k miles. Modern component...
My Valver is on 101,000 miles now and runs sweeter than ever. But it wasnt always like that.
I bought it on 78k and I can see from the history that it was a "problem car" right from the start - new lambda sensor at 20k, snapped clutch cable at 50k, snapped cambelt at 72k, dead TDC sensor at...
Fair enough Dr, but as an NHS accountant-in-training myself I would still prescribe a ZX diesel for doing the dodgy rounds at 3am in the morning! Point taken about depreciation though!
Nah, I think I know him anyway from school days - I was just joking about defending honour etc! But I will talk to him and Im sure hell be up for some experimentation in the name of science.
Why do you need to spend £5-10K?
For me, it would be that Citroen ZX Volcane TD with leather again, for under £1k. If youre going to have a 2nd car, youve got to do it properly!
The other three cars sound like they would come too close in performance terms to the S3 to justify keeping...
Ive just finished uni, so Ive now moved back to my parents home and I often park my car on the road during the daytime to free up some garage space. Recently, Ive also been spending a lot of time mending/cleaning some cars to sell, which are kept on the street - so I get to see who looks at my...
I did 25,000 miles of recreational driving in one year in my old Mk1 1.2! Have settled down with 10-14,000 miles a year, using my car only occasionally, but for long journeys.
Good to hear that. Always better to fix a car you know and love rather than enter the mire of buying another - especially with Valvers.
The competition for having the most mint Valver in Wales & the West has just got hotter!
The de-cat will be causing the puffs of smoke on the over-run. If this ignites, you get flames! Perfectly normal on a 16v/Willy F7R/P engine with a de-cat.
You shouldnt need an oil filter removal tool for a normal 16v oil filter (hex or fastener type). You just screw it on by hand and off by hand. Renault ones (which I always use as theyre guaranteed to be right) dont even have a hexagonal dome to fit a hex key to.
I worked P/T for Halfords...
Im afraid that bodykits and the like wont add any value in trade circles. Seems like a reasonable price to me, given that its trade.
You could try advertising privately for a few weeks and see what deal you could get for cash on a new car. Even if the car doesnt sell privately, youve only...
Why spend £7k if you dont need to?
My Volvo 1990 Volvo 340 5-door is for sale at £299 o.n.o.

But failing that (and of course I see no reason why;)), consider something like the Citroen ZX Volcane TD. It was the...
