Round a track a Cup will beat a 172 with little hassle if drivers are of similar skill, in a straight line even if the 172 gets on the power first the Cup will still come passed. If floored at same time Cup will pull passed 172 with not much hassle. FACT. BUT thats not to take anything away...
Oh thats so much bull sh*t, my pal has a chipped Ibiza Cupra 195 hp 240 lbft weighs 1115 kg now if torque wins races why can I pull away from him all the way? Because it makes 240 lb ft on a very narrow power band (like a TDI) where the 172 makes a nice fat spread of torque over a longer band.
I doubt in a fair race a standard VTS could beat a 172, it will get beat by some margain (unless youve got a "magic" VTS:sick:. There is very little differene between a mark 1 and 2 performance wise its down to the individual car.
Please all non 172 owners please dont order this badge for your 1.2-1.6s, saw a 1.2 black clio with a sport badge on it the other day and I was itching to rip it off!:@
What do you rekon about cutting up my other Cup 172 badge and spraying the little 172 bit chrome and sticking it on my bros 172?
What? Makes me laugh we have both a 172 and a Cup and have raced them and im telling you what happens, why would we possibly lie? If you want to think that if you line up side by side with a Cup and are going to match it all the way your sadly mistaken it will pull away from word go and creep...
I took Teady out in my car last night and his first comment was f**k this thing is quick... pulls like a train from 2 k where a 172 would get left behind... I.E when I raced Teady. I really dont know why everyone is fighting.. Cup and 172 are both very fast, handle like go karts and look nice...
My pal had a mark 1 Golf GTi(same engine as the mark 2 8 valve) and we were kneck and kneck below 100 and at 100 I flew passed....... this was in my Primera which at that time had 162 hp. So to say that his Gti will keep up with a 172 is crazy. But just leave him be he is happy with himself.
We can film them against each other tommorow night, using camera mount so no extra person to weigh 172 or the Cup down. When we raced I was behind Teady, he counted down 1 2 3 clench fist, right away ive made up the 1 car length between us and had to change up @ 6500 rpm in 2nd or id have hit...
Xeons weigh no more than a standard bulb I would think, it has 1 inch bigger wheels WHHHOOOPPPY apart from that there is very little difference. Not anything thats going to make it near 90 kg heavier.
Renault stated the mark 2 as 1040 kg and every mag that tested the cup when it was released were taking 90 kg away from that to give the Cups weight. It then came out that they had infact been BS about the weight of the mark1/2 172 and infact they weighed nearer 1100 kg, making the cups weight...
Going by your way of thinking then the the mark 2 weighs 1120 kgs - 75 = 1045 and the Cup is supposed to weigh 89 kg less than a mark 2 so that means the cup weighs 932 LOL I love your logic.
