Well you could do yeah but if the solenoid is sticking hit the starter motor with a rubber mallet or something similar and see if it will start then. Do all the electrics work ok?

Well if you do take it to a garage, be warned that the MAP sensor is circa £100 from Renault. I managed to get one for less than £30 in the end and fitted it myself, shame you're so far away.

As Gaz says, I had all your symptoms and it turned out to be the MAP sensor, try unplugging it then starting the car.

The Clio's don't seem to like any other plug than the OE NGK ones.

True, but I was referring to Rob ;) People are suggesting he tapes up the light or removes it, rather than finding the fault. Not ideal IMO :)

I think fixing the fault is a far better idea to be honest... Remember that whilst the light is 'lit' none of the airbag system is functional.

5 years or 72k Laura. All 172's should have had this done by now.

Possibly an ABS sensor then. If it's at speed/after prolonged driving it's usually the brake pedal switch.

Renault will replace it at great cost to you. There are companies out there that will reset it but you'll have to search for them, can't think of any off hand.

The resistor thing only works if a bag hasn't been fired. If one has then the computer needs resetting/replacing.
