It's easier to combine with other work, like the cambelt for example. My Cams are getting fitted for less than £100 which I think is very reasonable but then I'm having other stuff done at the same time so engine will already be partly stripped down.
I don't think Paul does fitting of the Cams.
Firstly you shouldn't really be using an impact gun to tighten the top nut as this can spin the shaft of the strut.
I'd say as Jon does that the top rubber mount could be fitted incorrectly.
Have a look? ;)
There should be two, one pre cat and one post cat. They're interchangeable by the way so a quick way to eliminate the pre cat sensor is by swapping it with the post cat one.
The only practical way to check it is to swap it for the post cat sensor, they're both identical but the pre cat one is the only one that controls anything.
Second sensor is purely for emissions.
Depends on the Cams and the Map really.
My Cams are £1k~ new and the map is £345+VAT.
Secondhand Cams can be had for £500~, so all in for £1k is do-able if you have patience.
The MAP sensor is pretty important, it senses the air pressure difference between what's inside the plenum and what's outside. From that it works out how open the throttle is (as this lets air in) and then dictates to the ECU how much fuel to put in and the ignition timing.
Well mine was missfiring from idle and hesitant on acceleration, unplugging the sensor cured the idle issues and made it run better.
I've since changed the sensor and it has resolved my problems :)
The MAP sensor is on the drivers side of the plenum, under the engine cover. It's a simple check and was the cause of my missfiring issues.
There's a picture of it in this section in a couple of threads.
Try unplugging the MAP sensor and start the car.
Could be the lambda too as said. Did changing the coil pack make no difference? Have you checked/changed the leads/plugs?
Well two differences I can think of - it wont have the auto levelling system for the xenons as Cup's don't have them, I'm not sure if the set up can be transferred? Secondly the Cup hubs wont have the ABS sensors as they don't have ABS, again I'm not sure if his sensors can be swapped over to...
