    A Bit Of Help With A mk2 172

No worries, that's what we're here for :) These are what you need by the way, if they have indeed failed.

    A Bit Of Help With A mk2 172

No, it's a discharge lamp and will either work or not. The only way to test it is to put it in a known working headlight.

    A Bit Of Help With A mk2 172

No, you can get aftermarket ones but from experience they're still about £40 each.

Xenon lamps are £75 plus VAT each from Renault.

    A Bit Of Help With A mk2 172

Stupid question alert - did you wash inside the engine bay? There is no other way that the headlights/lamps could come into contact with water.

    A Bit Of Help With A mk2 172

Starting etc, you shouldn't need to check those. All the auxillaries are in the dash fuse box.

    A Bit Of Help With A mk2 172

Yep the headlights are individually fused. Failing that the relay could have worked loose, do you hear the click when you switch the lights on?

    new 1*2 seats

Brand new they're very expensive - they should still be available to order though.

They don't work at all, in auto or manually? I presume he's checked the fuses?

    Car dying from cold

I thought the idle was electronically controlled from within the ECU? That's what I was told anyway when I was looking to adjust mine...

172/182 with Cams RR Data results

It's easier to combine with other work, like the cambelt for example. My Cams are getting fitted for less than £100 which I think is very reasonable but then I'm having other stuff done at the same time so engine will already be partly stripped down. I don't think Paul does fitting of the Cams.

    That's reassuring as that's who I'm booked in with - thanks :)

    Lambda Sensors where are they?

One directly infront of the cat, on the manifold, and one directly in the side of the cat.

KTEC coilovers issue with OE topmount :S

Firstly you shouldn't really be using an impact gun to tighten the top nut as this can spin the shaft of the strut. I'd say as Jon does that the top rubber mount could be fitted incorrectly.

    Wrong diagnosis?!

Have a look? ;) There should be two, one pre cat and one post cat. They're interchangeable by the way so a quick way to eliminate the pre cat sensor is by swapping it with the post cat one.

Flashing Emission Lamp and Error Code ---h

The only practical way to check it is to swap it for the post cat sensor, they're both identical but the pre cat one is the only one that controls anything. Second sensor is purely for emissions.

172/182 with Cams RR Data results

Depends on the Cams and the Map really. My Cams are £1k~ new and the map is £345+VAT. Secondhand Cams can be had for £500~, so all in for £1k is do-able if you have patience.

    Wrong diagnosis?!

The MAP sensor is pretty important, it senses the air pressure difference between what's inside the plenum and what's outside. From that it works out how open the throttle is (as this lets air in) and then dictates to the ECU how much fuel to put in and the ignition timing.

    Quick question about airbag light

I don't think you can and Renault wont do it due to insurance issues. Have any bags been fired, I noticed your new bumper etc the other day ;)

Flashing Emission Lamp and Error Code ---h

Faulty pre cat lambda at a guess, that's the one that controls fuelling etc.

    Quick question about airbag light

The resistor is if you remove the seats and there is nolonger an airbag fitted. Have you fitted an aftermarket steering wheel or anything?
  22. Da

    Wrong diagnosis?!

Well mine was missfiring from idle and hesitant on acceleration, unplugging the sensor cured the idle issues and made it run better. I've since changed the sensor and it has resolved my problems :)
  23. Da

    Wrong diagnosis?!

The MAP sensor is on the drivers side of the plenum, under the engine cover. It's a simple check and was the cause of my missfiring issues. There's a picture of it in this section in a couple of threads.
  24. Da

    Wrong diagnosis?!

Try unplugging the MAP sensor and start the car. Could be the lambda too as said. Did changing the coil pack make no difference? Have you checked/changed the leads/plugs?
  25. Da

    hazards wont stop flashing?

Do the wipers and headlights still function ok? It's generally the switch when they start playing up, did you unplug the switch when you removed it?

    Car dying from cold

Does the ph1 have an ICV? I know the ph2 doesn't. Coolant temp sensor could be the issue and are relatively cheap to replace.

    silly question to be answered

Well two differences I can think of - it wont have the auto levelling system for the xenons as Cup's don't have them, I'm not sure if the set up can be transferred? Secondly the Cup hubs wont have the ABS sensors as they don't have ABS, again I'm not sure if his sensors can be swapped over to...

    Racing Blue or Inferno?

RB, but then I am slightly biased... ;) Seen inferno a few times in the flesh and to be honest it doesn't really appeal to me.
