Sticking thermostat at a guess.
When he said open the cap on the radiator, he meant the expansion tank/coolant bottle on the bulkhead, but I wouldn't open it whils it was boiling!
Excellent news! :approve:
Brand new they're £70~ from Renault, but PM joshydee on here (ClioSpares.co.uk) as he does them for £20~ with 3 months warranty.
The MAP sensor...
be careful if you try and remove it as this could happen...
The MAP sensor measures the vacuum inside the plenum and from that decides how open the throttle is. From that it works out the ignition timing and how much fuel to allow in (very simple terms).
It didn't show any faults on mine either, I think it's Renault only diagnostics.
There isn't really any way of testing it besides buying/borrowing one. I suppose you could unplug it with the engine running and see if the misfire gets worse/stays the same.
It is on the drivers side of the...
Physically they're the same but a 172/182 box will not have the speedo output so your speedo will not work.
A cup box has this output, the others use the ABS sensor.
You could try the MAP sensor, might be completely unrealted but I was having misfiring and hesitation issues and it turned out to be the MAP.
Car was smoking too as it was running rich.
Brand new they're about £70 I think Jonny but managed to source one secondhand for £20 with 3 months warranty. Easy enough to replace really, the sensor just needs 'persuading' to pop out of the hole in the side of the plenum. Once out though it's a simple unplug old sensor, plug in new one and...
A complete brand new unit can be had for ~£150, so secondhand probably no more than £100 tops.
Personally I'd buy new as you never know with S/H electrical items.
Well the ballast bolts to the bottom of the headlight and the starter attaches to the xenon discharge lamp, so if you wanted to keep it OE you'd need Renault gear.
Yeah, cos I know how far you are from K-Tec.
You said
and unless I'm stupidly mistaken K-Tec are indeed in the SouthWest of the UK!
Next time, be more precise hey...
Yeah I knew who you were, lol just couldn't remember your exact age ;)
Insurance at your age will drop massively if you do it as standard, try it on a comparison site.
How old are you Liam?
Basically as it's modded, comparison sites and the likes will be a waste of time, you NEED to go to a specialist.
There's loads out there, sticky at the top of this section by TheBoosh! - have a look at that.
I'd want it cheaper too!
Who have you tried?
Sky are meant to be good, but have a lot of exclusions.
Flux are good as are Greenlight. Alot will be age dependant though.
