  clio rs
im either gonna go for a refurb box depending on how much its gonna cost.

the garage who do the refurb say they can get gearbox but just wanna make sure is the cup gearbox different to the 172ff and 182

Physically they're the same but a 172/182 box will not have the speedo output so your speedo will not work.

A cup box has this output, the others use the ABS sensor.

speedo drive and final drive ratio are the only major differences. 182 box has a bolted in diff rather than circlip retained also, but that's a nice upgrade

iv seen afew 182 boxes on the market, im not sure wat is meant by upgrade. I need it to work with the speedo.

just means the gearing is slightly different I think. Longer 5th gear? so more speed range in 5th. Might be wrong though

Obviously doing the quickshift would be beneficial while the GB is being done. :)

  172 Race Car
all gears as its the final drive (diff ratio)

iirc phase 2 was shorter to counter the extra weight over a phase 1 to keep the 0-62 the same

  172 Race Car
were running a cup box in the race car for that reason but it will probably still be too leggy for what we need. Our gearbox guy can change them

i dont wanna take a chance and regret it. As it is the acceleration is really impressive, if the refurb smoothes it out along with the quickshift it wud be perfect

I wouldn't expect much from a rebuild to be fare. car will probably feel the same to be honest. not sure about the quick shift though, but doubt that will change much either. when you getting it all fitted?
