i know it's not your first build mate, wasn't being patronising, i've built about 14 machines myself and i still don't know everything.
I'll have some pics up of my new build at some point tomorrow provided everything goes smoothly.
Actually thinkng of getting another raptor drive and...
awesome mate! thanks for all the help. Apparently (after reading) bios updates are a must. Think latest is 703.
you installing the offical nvidia motherboard drivers or the asus ones?
EDIT also mate. For the Zalman, did you manage to correctly fit in the bracet on the motherboard so that the...
good work. did you use the thermal grease with the zalman or artic silver 5? good temps?
also, did you attach the optional asus northbridge cooling fan included on the mobo??
yeh but mate it's not the brackets it's the rentention clips which go across the middle. believe me, if i could get it to fit, i would. just spoke with overclockers people have had this issue before so i've got a tuniq 120mm CPU cooler. look preytty good and overclocers use them in their...
i bought OEM q6600 so i don't have a HSF coming with! need to order one like today!!! going to do some research but do you have any other recommendations?
roy, what cooler you getting for it?
prob best you benefit from my experience, just had the motherboard arrive along with a Zalman cooler flower...doesn't fit, well pissed off, will have to find anotehr cooler now argh
Can i ask you roy, why did you choose the black dragon stuff over the OCZ SLi stuff? on a nvidia chipset the SLi yiels much better results or so i've read...
Other than that we have identical spec, except i have Q6600 - gettting it all delivered on Saturday! can't wait.
I got a 625 with v similar specs and I've read I can overclock it well, mines a corsair, think you shut be ok mate. Surely wait and see how you go then buy if you need?
i had exactly the same decision to make and decided to use my pc a lot more.
but if you want a gaming pc it's expensive tbh. i think if you run dxdiag (from the run option in xp) it'll give you most of the specs you need. might not give you the exact motherboard model though, you may have to...
nah i'm steering clear of 1.1.3. although i can't really upgrade anyway as i have it unlocked at the moment on 1.1.2 with turbosim. like the idea of moving the menus around though :(
yeh get crucial memory adviser to see what you have and what you can get. If you have windows XP don't bother with more than 2gig of ram tbh. if it's that old you might be worth looking into a new one!
read the rest of the article mate, GT doesn't beat it on anything. ANYWAY horses for courses.
and on overclockers you can get them in the same price range as GT's.
well seems a bit odd to me, rather get my comparisions from tomshardware AND on crysis if u please!

ATI Card - it's the quickest card out but it's noisy, hot, and doesn't even beat a 8800 ultra in some cases! which is pretty shocking considering the 8800 has been out 8 months!
jbennett - yeah but it's still quicker, more overclockable and it's the same price :/
nice! not directx10 though those card are they?
that hard drive is rdiciulous. i paid through the teeth for my raptor drive...thats much better though!
i just ordered my bits for my new PC.
FYI buy a GTS they're the same price as a GT and you can clock them even higher. I'd go for Q6600 (quad core) cheap and awesome. 2gig ram for XP 4 for vista i'd say on and btw, that power supply looks pants. get a decent one.
