Someone on here said recently that its 60% car and 40% driver and I agree with that. If you have the knack of keeping a 16v "on the boil", then a Willy wont exactly muller a 16v. Id have said that most traffic light grand prix between a 16v and Willy would be inconclusive.

Cars have to be around for a long time before I put my cash down on one!
I doubt Ill ever splash my cash on a new car - I can get my dose of fun from fairly cheap cars! I make friends with my cars and enjoy looking after them, taking them to pieces and keeping them mint (Im so sad arent...

How on earth did they get the 16v/Williams bonnet bulge on there? Can you get a mould of just the bonnet bulge from an aftermarket supplier or something?
BMWs are getting confusing now: the new 323i is actually actually the 190bhp 2.5; the 320i gets the 170bhp 2.2, the 318i the 140bhp 2.0.
I raced a 330i and was with it until *120mph - which is more or less when a 16v stops accelerating.
Had a TDi 150 tail me on the motorway yesterday up a hill. I dropped to 3rd and he was keeping up, but hit the flat and I pulled away very considerably.
Id say that for overtaking, the instant push that the torque gives at the lower revs makes it very quick for the first few seconds -...

Well, up a hill with a passenger is not a 16v strength. I had a Golf TDi 150 tailing me up a motorway hill yesterday - dropped it to 3rd, but it was still there. But come the flat, oh boy did that car turn to a spec!
The Cupra doesnt have better on paper acceleration figures than the 16v...

Dont want to pee on the warm 172 fire, but the Williams caned all comers in a test in Evo: Golf GTi Mk1, 205 GTi 1.9, 172 Mk2, Mini Cooper, SEAT Ibiza 1.8 T Cupra...
Maybe it was a different test? But Id definitely have a 172 Cup for proper old school thrills.
Renatec (just off the Bath Road in Brislington) will do a quality job.

I saw a black Phase 1 today at Brentree rounabout - I was the black Phase 2 that flashed it.
Anyone here?
The earliest Clio 16vs came without a cat, but there were literally a batch of only 500 or so of them, all on a J-plate. French 16vs had been around for 6 months longer, so more of them might be cat-less. Maybe that explains the infamous one that Autocar tested in late 1991 with a 0-60 of 7.3...
After a lot of phone calls and debating with mechanics over the last week, I today found someone to fix my cylinder head without removing it. Im so happy, as some garages said Id have to junk my lovely moded head - and I certainly couldnt afford a new one.
So I got a £42 tow to the place on...
