Im pretty happy with my reg as it is on my 1994 L 16v. I like a local reg plate and my HOL suffix is a Vale of Glamorgan/Cardiff/Bridgend usual (even though the car was first registered at Renault London).
I dont want anything with my name in, but for future reference can I buy a banger for...

The 16v/Willy F7R/P units vary a lot in terms of power. Some standard 16vs I know are only midly quick - others make my 171bhp 16v have to work damn hard for a victory!
I know exactly what you mean about the subtlety of the 16v. I had a Corsa tempting me into a traffic light grand prix a couple of months ago. After the third set of lights I decided to open it up a bit, and gave them some show! At the next set of lights the window came down and the two blokes...

Read the 1994 Cars & Car Conversions article on the Williams on the main Cliosport site (under articles!). That outlines the Group A pedigree of the 16v - and its later homologated special edition: the Williams.
Despite this greatness, theyre expensive and time consuming cars - though not...

Oh man Pete - thats bad. I dunno what Id do. I told you that time I had a nutter in an Astra braking in front of me - the only way I got away was by booting it. If Id been in my old 1.2 Id have had it.
Just makes you wish that me, Si in his Willy 3 and Lee in his 16v were there to give...
I changed my old 16" wheels with 205/45/16 rubber for some 15" Phase IIs a month ago (with four brand new tyres).
I reckon that the car is much better on the original 15s!!!
The grip is a little less on 195/50/15 tyres, but the car breaks away more progressively and controllably, the...
Its the Nova GTe and GSi that are remotely warm: the SRi would have trouble out-dragging a 1.2 Clio.
Is the Swift GTis 1.3s engine NA or forced induction? It seems to have good figures: 0-60 in 8.7, 30-70 in 8.6 and a top whack of 114mph, which is pretty even with a Mk1 Clio RSi or the AX...

I reckon someone jumped over your car. Used to get kids going for cider piss ups in the woods over the road to us at home - and theyd come out all pissed up and jump over all the cars they could see.

I was really surprised to see that most of the Williams at the Bury RR day made more power at the wheels than the majority of the 172s.
I was also surprised to see in PGTi how much quicker Matt Browns 2.0 converted Clio 16v (basically a Willy engine) was than cars like the 306 GTi-6 and 106...

The Cup is to the 172 what the CSL is to the M3; the Williams to the Clio 16v. These editions are what would probably be criticised as too harsh or uncompromising if they were the only model on offer - but theres always a limited, but keen, market for a more raw/perfected model.

Its difficult to say. CAPs Black Book or equivalent would say about £2-2500 on the open market. But in reality, just by looking on Autotrader youll see plenty of mint 16vs in the £3-5k band. People buy these cars on condition, though £5k is getting to the limit. Mods will add little or...
