Many of the larger spoilers create a fair bit of drag - and can have the opposite effect of that intended (i.e. to improve drag/handling)! I wouldnt have thought that a small-ish genuine Renault one would have a negative effect. But it certainly wont make any perceivable difference!

Coolant temp went three-quarters or engine temp went three quarters? If its the coolant temp then Id have said it was a thermostat or any of the cooling components.
For a while I had my engine temp getting too high all the time (right up to 160degC!!). I changed and flushed the coolant...
My mate had one as a courtesy car a few months ago. Felt really well built and seemed like a bit of a bargain to me. My money would be on a Dynamique DCi engined one though, as a second car.

Especially if its reaining, I just stick to the inside lane and leave absolutely loads of room between cars.
