The Willy engine and the earlier 2.0 150bhp Megane engine are virtually identical. I dont know exactly what is different, but it is minor. Its called the F7R engine (F7P is the one in the Clio 16v) and also comes in the Spider.
Before long youll be doing most of the stuff yourself anyway mate!
Hope you enjoyed Cardiff - what was Meanstreet like?
Have put some original Phase 2 wheels on my car now - stealth look!

Yeah Nick, think I saw that car too when I was down for the last big meet. Southend should hang its head in shame!
Also followed another 2-door red Metro along the A198 with a big sticker with "Taylor" and a bulldog across the back window. The guy had his name in huge letters on the back of...

This is for the 91-96 Clio 16-Valve:
The cars are fairly maintenace-intensive, but, as ever, the care it has received thus far will usually dictate condition. Look for a big folder of bills.
What you should then be looking for then can be split into categories:

Without major surjery - probably nothing. Perhaps maybe a 1.6 Energy (8v unit). Dropping in the 16vs engine (in 1.8 flavour or 2.0 a la Williams/Megane Coupe) would involve a lot of fettling, unless you get the chip, gbox, diffs, driveshafts, CVs, clutch, cooling system, engine mounts etc with...
Ive just fitted some Phase 2 16v wheels and the tyres are really shoddy. So Lofty is about to sort me out with four new ones!
I hope the three of us can meet up soon for the promised trip to some good Welsh roads!
Hows your XR2 coming along Ben - I hear it could be 150bhp!

Joe - get Nick to PM you a spec list. I think the forum computer would have a meltdown due to the quantity of spec info Nick is about to write otherwise!;)

Paranoia: By the customer quote I mean that VW and the Golf continue to have sales success in my opinion due to brand/image/reliability perceptions among their customer base. Admittedly, the 150bhp TD cant be had yet in Skoda or SEAT flavour, but I find that it is the VW buyer that is quickest...

Ha ha!!! LOL @ Lofty!
My girlfriend doesnt like cars and really cant see what the fuss is all about with a car like the 16v/Willy/172 etc.
I just keep it all to one side and work on my car when shes not around. That way she never has anything to moan about! I only use my car about once...
