Yes sorry it's a 172. It sound like a misfire when under load. Car runs perfect but when you accelerate hard it makes the noise. It's strange I've never heard a similar sound before
Hey folks
Ive been to see a car I really like. Its immaculate inside and out with a few choice mods for a ok price.
On the test drive it sounded fine until the seller accelerated hard. For example sitting at 2k rpm in 3rd,put the foot down and a funny sort of misfire sound comes from under the...
Had a chat with the seller. The coilovers are 2 years old and have done about 7k. Same with the exhaust. Belts were done around the same time so don't need done for at least 2 years. I thought this would be worth around the £2300 mark maybe more IF the mods suit what the buyer wants(and they do...
I'm looking at buying a 172. Seen a nice flame red one here's the spec
2002 plate

Matched inlets

Bilstein b14 coilovers

Yeh going to leave it be. It's very strange they didn't change owners :/ so put me right off
I prefer the look of the phase 2 tbh but been told they are noticeably slower than the phase 1s? I find this hard to believe though but haven't been in both so can't comment.
Id love a Monaco phase 2...
I've got around £2k to spend but there's no phase 1s about tbh. Been told phase1s are the ones too go for? Faster than the phase 2s. I'm new to the Clio sport game lol
.....and I'm in 2 minds about it :-/
Hey all
Basically im looking for a fairly cheap 172 as a daily and an occasional track car.
So seen a nice one on Gumtree. Phase 1 in odessey blue with 85k on the clock. Ok service history with a Cambelt change 2.5 years ago(15k ago). It's on eibach...
Hey folks
Thought this would be the best section to post in to get most views.
Or can anyone give me the Renault part numbers for everything and how much approx they are?
Would it be ok to get laser ones (the pin and the horseshoe) and only getting the sprocket locking tool from Renault? As I...
Hey folks
Anyone thinking I selling up soon? Ideally I'd like a phase 1 with 80k or so.
Anyone selling or know of any for sale please let me know, their like hens teeth :(
Location is in central Scotland but will travel a fair bit
Cheers
Greg
Right bought a filter, oil and a sump plug so will change the oil tomorrow. Filter comes with the 2 o rings so that's fine.
But had another look and the drip looks like its coming from a more central part of the engine. Any other parts that tend to leak?
Cheers
Hey folks
Ive got a 1.2 16v Clio just now that will be getting sold in the next few months. But it's got an oil leak that's getting a little worse.
Its coming from the drivers side of the engine bay as that's where the drips are on the ground.
I will get it on the ramps tomorrow and have a...
Ah I see. In my eyes the phase 2 is a nicer looking car. I know some will disagree but that's just me.
Plus as its a daily the ac and auto lights etc might be a very good idea. It'll still be a great track car.
What year do the phase 2s start to get cruise control?
Cheers
Really? That's Good to read. I'm not planning on breaking any lap records with it I just want a bit of fun. So a 172 cup or non cup will suffice.
Is the phase 1 any better/worse than a phase 2?
Or am I just as well going for a normal 172(phase 2 but maybe phase 1) as there's a lot more about and there quite a bit cheaper.
Or is the cup really that much better? I've read it's slightly lighter, has a wider track(how much wider?) and is lower(how much lower?) but would a normal 172 with...
Is that how long tyres last? No long at all! Thought it would have been a lot longer tbh.
But yes I totally see where your coming from so £300 a track day sounds about right.
As for transportation I don't think I'll get that serious. If it breaks down I'll push it a mile outside the track and...
£300 for a track day. Hope not lol. My local track(knockhill) is about 25 miles away and I'm hoping I only use a tank maybe a tank and a half on the day. Last track day I went to watch was only £55 to go on for the full day. About 6-8 20 minute sessions iirc.
But Hoofy I think you talk sense...
I see what your saying Hoofy. And I agree. But if I have the money am I not better fitting atleast a bit of safety eg the bucket seat and harness. For a cheap set it'll be around £200 second hand.
Yes I did think of the price of tyres tbh but I've read they drive a lot better on 15s as well.
Ill try my best to get a cup then.
Anything else needed for track? Strut braces or anything?
