Yes plan on a set of r888s or similar. Maybe t1-r's to start with or something.
Am I better getting a set of 15s for track?
And am I best starting with a cup model?
Cheers
Thanks for the comment Adam. I'm just after safety really. That's why I want the driver in a bucket seat and harness. My girlfriend and probably dad and brother will have a shot of it as well round track and I don't want anything happening to them never mind me.
I thought maybe bucket, harness...
Ah that's good then no fabricating brackets etc lol
What about suspension? Is it better to fit lowering springs? And is it best getting a cup model?
Cheers
Funds aren't the problem im an engineer and have a mate who's offered to fabricate me a custom weld in cage but it's the fact I want to use the rear seats as well.
Are upgraded brakes a must? Brembos or something
Hey folks
Was looking at getting a 172 in April time but decide no I'll be sensible and get a 1.2 as it was to use as a second car(weekend car is a focus rs running 350+ bhp). So insured it in may and done the belts and clutch myself. Now less than a month later I've decided to sell it to a guy...
Yes I'll clean mine completely and put it all back together then in a month or so I'll whip it off again to check over. If full again I'll try a new one or a good one from a scrappies.

Quite interesting. Especially post 8. According to him there is the PCV valve an basically if your getting oil in the inlet manifold you need a new one as the breather is build into a sealed...
That's what makes me think it's been over filled at one point. Could have been years ago and since the inlet manis not been opened up no one would be any the wiser.
If its not been over filled what could it be?
Also does the plastic tray come off? I assume this is the cam cover? Id like to...
Hey folks
Ive got a 1.2 2002 dynamique clio as a second car.
Had it for a week and bought it knowing it needed a little bit of work. So I've fitted a new clutch, fitting a timing belt, alt belt and water pump on Monday and doing a full oil and filter change. Will be a great car when it's all...
Right got my new clutch. It's a Sachs one and I'll be fitting it tonight. Got talked through the procedure with a Renault tech so should be ok probably a bit fidily.
My new clutch kit comes with cover plate, friction disc and release bearing, but the friction dis does not have the little...
It'll be emulsified oil. Basically oil and water mixing. Common on the 1.2 clios that don't do too many long runs. Give it a good run and see if it clears. If not check the coolant tank for brown discolouring. This would indicate the head gasket has failed
Going to buy a clutch kit for it. Can get a Valeo one from ECP for £79 so quite cheap.
Do I need fluids? Gearbox oil? If so how much does it hold?
Cheers
Hey folks
Just bought a 1.2 Clio. Wanted a 172 but really not practical at the mo with its mpg.
It's a 2002 dynamique with 64k on it. Not mint but in good nick. Got it for £900 but needs a clutch. Still drivable and can do 70 mph but slips if your aggressive with the gas.
Ive done most things...
That's what I thought. But only at comes on at 60? Weird.
Also thought could it maybe be the steering angle sensor? As it only happens in a long straight road
How much are abs sensors and the steering angle one too?
Hey folks
Looking at getting a 1.2 Clio for a second car. Seen a nice red one but it's got a little problem.
Drives about town fine but as soon as you go on the likes of a motorway/dual carriage way and hit 60mph the abs and SERV light comes on. When you stop and turn the engine off then...
I've found a nice red one. 5 door 1.2 dynamique. 2004 with 90,000 on the clock. Really nice actually. Little faded and slightly patchwork-ish but I can make that better. Timing belt done and part history. Only £1150. Which I think is a very good price?
Few problems though
-slight misfire under...
Hey folks
Lookin at getting a 1.2 Clio as a run about then get a 172 when the times right.
So a few questions
Is it best to get the 16v or is the 8v just a good?
At what sort of milage are they a no no to buy? 100k or more?
What spec is the best to get? Dynamique/ expression etc etc. I've...
But he's a mechanic with his own garage so for 1 he will have done the work for free as its his own car, and 2 he will have got the parts a lot cheaper too.
Body works not mint but for £1000 what more do you want. I'll wait and see what it's like.
Is it true there a bit rough idle when cold...
