I don't think so @Louis
Was super careful when putting it all back together to make sure everything ignition related had room to move.
What about this is as a Servisol alternative @STEVE.M ...
Rodger that................this evenings activity is now booked. :)
Never really gave the engine bay fuse box wiring the "go-over" it deserved though, especially the white plug so that is the first port of call
Cheers guys

By means of an update, I popped into the car which had been sitting for a while yesterday and after I started it, the little rectangle with zig-zag dash light came on.
I noticed that it would not rev at all when this was on
Turned it off and back on (standard IT support approach) and it was...
FYI. Tensioner rock solid. On the money @bloke
Pulled it and freed it (using bolts to avoid marking the insert and a little atf). Reinstalled and the noise is gone. Surprisingly awkward job to be fair but at least now I know how to do the aux belt.
Will be replacing with new aux kit as soon...
Righto, Clio project is still progressing and while I do still have some hesitancy issues (to be picked up with a parts swap with a fellow board member) my attention has been turned to my gearbox.
It is quite simply, pishing oil and yes, I know that is common. I have a gearbox refurb exercise...
I really love the Ktec S/S Stealth that is on mine.................i didn't choose it, it was on the car when I bought ages ago so can hardly compare but I think it is perfect :)
Right gents................while I am at it................I AM MOTIVATED HERE so bear with me.
I have a knock in my n/s drive train somewhere............specifically on a cobbled road is when it raises its head. Screams of steering/suspension to me but I just want to sound it out.
I have a...
stop.
its not keyed to the crank on a 172 either but taking it off without locking all the timing up will blow the timing out
on a 172 this is the only thing that holds the crank sprocket in time on the crank.
i dont know if that is the case with this engine but check first
Is water pump not on the aux side..........
*edit* sorry, it is on RS models......i see this is a 1.4 but there REALLY should be something obvious making that din.
says the person who is pissed of with squealing belts AND IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT!
:)
Renparts as per my thread but one was wrong..............they sorted super quick tbh
Bear in mind though, they aren't getting stock straight from Marelli ATM and have been sourcing from ECP etc
J
Not smoke tested bud and also adaptations not reset.
Hey @Simon998 bud.....that is looking like the only option but it's fairly easy and quick to swap and check. Will give you a shout bud. Appreciate it
J
Hi bud......Renparts were super and replaced the incorrect injector overnight basically. So full set of new injectors in and idle (with 98 Ron henk map) still bumbled down to 760 rpm, almost surging up to 900ish and back down....all the time in traffic..... was doing it this am and every time I...
Also fairly proud of my hand-crafted-without-a-welder aux belt tool.
Just undersized a square hole in b and q finest hunk o metal and pressed a bolt that I ground to 10mm square into it with a vice.
Made a second 10mm fitting with a different angle as I couldn't work out which would work...
So.......uhh........well, I gave the pas sensor a clean to see what's what.
Umm
Yeah. Was wet after a few quick left-rights.
Scary bananas. Definitely trying to make a bit for freedom @STEVE.M
New one on way.

Hey @clio_ross
That was one of the things that i did replace in this veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery long thread :)
Mine was starting to spin freely (marked it with tipex and noticed they had spread after one day). I was also able to super-duper check the timing when I was doing this
Cheers for the...
Any way to verify the belt/tensioner for sure before buying the lot and realising its the pump and having tensioned a belt already?
Tried a wee huff of wd40 on the belt and it didn't stop the racket when i tried earlier
If we do end up down that path, any of you lovely lot have a pas pump...
