i used to press to lock mine straight after closing the door and get the annoying "BEEP BEEP BEEP" now I get out the car, walk to my front door and lock it. No beeping! Same as unlocking it...but in reverse if you see what I mean. You just gotta give it a few seconds to set and unset is all!

Have this on my 1.2. Tends to beep for me when I press it too soon after closing a door. A slight pause eliminates the beeps for me! 2 flashes - armed, 1 flash - unarmed.

No the bit you have circled is part of the mould of the dash top. Look at the diagram above. Dash top costs £170.
