Anyone run a dedicated server at home?
I'm tempted to get one, starting with the simple things such as file and print sharing, then maybe moving on to CCTV management, FTP, X10 appliance management etc
Anyone run one at the moment and what do you use it for?
For the record I'm not...
I'm having HD fitted tomorrow and currently have Sky+ fitted downstairs. When the engineer comes to fit HD tomorrow he is going to switch out the box downstairs and use the old one (Sky+) upstairs for me.
My understanding is the two boxes need to be connected? Is that just by satellite cable...
I've always been a PC fan boy and have never touched anything else. But with the recent downturn (IMHO anyway) of the PC games industry I don't see much point in spending money on upgrading/building PCs anymore. I therefore don't see why I need a PC which I only use for music, video, photos and...
I know HD-DVD is dead in the water these days, but I still find it useful to have around and have a good few HD-DVDs for it. I've left the HD-DVD alone until recently when my Premium console packed in and I replaced it with another Elite (to go with the one I have downstairs) so seeing as I have...
My iPhone 3G contract has just expired and I can't decide what to do. I've had a number of problems with the O2 network, getting worse more recently, where people have phoned me and I know for a fact I've had full signal and I've had no missed call at all, the first thing I know about it is when...
Apparently there's a new one about to come out any minute, but if like me your not a big fan of the game but fancy a punt on it for £16, its a good buy.

I moved from Vodafone to O2 and iPhone. Vodafone had great coverage but their billing was toss. O2's billing is spot on, but their coverage can be toss.
Anyone else got 2 Xbox 360s? Is it correct that you can only sign in to one at a time? (Independantly) Not too bothered because I'm just going to move the main HDD around with me when I play, but if I want a quick game on the secondary machine I take it I just need to make a second LIVE gamertag.
Ok, so in my main PC I have 2 x 150GB 10,000rpm HDDs in RAID.
I've recently purchased a HD Camcorder and storage space is now an issue. I obviously want to purchase more storage but if possible not compromise the speed of the 10,000rpm discs.
If I purchase 2 x 1TB 7,200rpm discs is this...
This may be a silly question, but if I were to purchase and all in one printer with fax facility, is it just a case of connecting it to the phoneline and someone can fax to it using the home number, or do I have to have a seperate fax line as well?
So I've recently bought a Panasonic SD10 HD Camcorder and unsuprisingly the software bundle with it isn't up to the job. Does anyone have any recomendations for video editing/resizing/converting software?
The files that come off the camera are .M2TS (AVCHD) and I'd obviously like to convert...
I've currently got a simple desktop PC setup with Windows Home Server for sharing music, photos etc. I want to upgrade it (its currently only an AMD 2800+ with 2GB of memory (333mhz i think ergh) and 115gb storage (way too little). I'm thinking something Intel Based with atleast 4GB memory and...
Stupid Sky+ box says the telephone line isn't connected, even though it definitely is, anyone else had this? Other forums seem to suggest resetting the system software altogether?
So, I've got a new 50" 1080p Panasonic Plasma.
The PS3 does 1080p over HDMI no problem.
The Xbox 360 I have (non-HDMI) will not do 1920x1080 resolution? Does it have to be HDMI to be able to do that? I thought it would be able to do 1080i (1920x1080)? It will only do 1280x1024.
Cheers...
I'm thinking of upgrading my home AV in the living room, starting off with a new TV stand and then a 50" 1080p. My question is where is the best place to look for the TV stand? I have two labradors so it needs to be quite a tall piece with plenty of storage below for consoles, amps, etc. Any...
My iPhone has stuffed this morning, says it needs a restore and to connect it to iTunes. Connecting it to iTunes to 'restore' just tells me it can't access the phone because it has a passcode, but I can't put the f**king passcode into the phone because it needs a restore??
Help?
I've just ordered this and given the reviews its got online I'm surprised at how few threads there are on CS about it. Anyone got it? Opinions? Looks like it could be very addictive and something even the GF might pick up and play. Or has everyone sold their PS3 as waiting for GT5 is a f**king joke?
I'm after a TV for my home office, I'm wanting a 32" 1080p but didn't really want to spend more than £400, but that looks like a bit of a mission, as most seem to be around £500 if not more. Do you reckon I could pick one up nearer to the money in the January sales?
I've always thought of web cams as something a lot of people don't use, but I've just got one so my mum and dad can see the baby in January (they live 240 miles away) and if its the type of thing you have a use for this one seemed a great deal to me, even the guy on the till couldn't believe it...
I'm just wondering if anyone is running Quad-Core or even Dual Core with greater than 3GB on XP 32Bit? I've got my setup running on Vista 64Bit which whilst its all very nice, I can't help but think XP would fly even though it won't be making the most of the hardware. I've also got a few things...
Ok, I need to get some wax on the Merc by Friday, I only have Natty's Blue, Megs #16 and Dodo Juice Purple Haze in the garage, I can't decide which to do (bearing in mind there is a VERY good chance this car has never seen wax before)
What do you reckon?
Dodo and Natty are better for...
