I just got my car going after 2 months of it being an ornament, i've got a dodgy alternator which drained the battery. I've just put a multimeter on the alternator and it's putting out 12.5 volts, don't they normally put out 14V?

I need to move my car so i've stuck in the battery from another car, but the car won't turn over at all, turn the key and 'click' dead! I tried jump starting it from the other car but my alarm would not stop going off, and could no be turned off, so I swapped the battery but it's still f*cked...
