    Alternator cable snapped.

I've found out what's wrong with the dog kennel, the alternator isn't charging the battery. So I decided to take off the live wire and clean the connector, in the process of undoing the bolt the connector snapped and the bolt now turns with the nut. Is it new alternator time, and if it is, do...

    The Dog kennel's dead (vid)

For quite a few months it's had starting issues, it normally starts after a few go's, but over the past few days it's just not having it, I think the starter motors knackered and has finally given up...

    Rare as hell Invacar

Now I know most of you will have never seen one of these, but when I was a kid these were everywhere in the early 80s. The government used to lease them to invalids as part of their benefits, however it's been illegal to drive them on UK roads since 2003, due to the fact you'd definitely die if...

Cosworth powered Mk1 Escort for £7k?

Surely he's missed a 1 off the front of that number, because that's one hell of a car for £7k(ish), i'm guessing that offers over £7k means he's hoping for a hell of a lot more? http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/ford/escort/cosworth-powered-mk1-1968/907935

    Random electrical problem.

This isn't about my car, it's DCI Raz's car that's gone wrong and he's out there somewhere with a car that's playing up, so he's asked me to ask you lot. It's randomly cutting out completely without warning lights or anything, turn ignition off and it'll restart, it gets worse with aircon on...

I quite like Cortina's these days.

Now i'm normally a Mk1/2 Cortina fan, but I wouldn't say no to a Mk3 either, looks like it might be a laugh...

    Trophy Coventry

I was at the Sainsbury's roundabout in Courthouse Green, you were heading in the other direction towards Sainsbury's. I was in an Iceburg 172 and gave you the thumbs up, you stared at me like i'd pissed on your kids.

    GW 200 cup (V600S)?

As I was coming out of Windsor St car park in Stratford Upon Avon, there was a GW 200 with grey front bit and a cup spoiler. It's one of nicest 200s i've seen, very clean, I wouldn't say no. Just wondered if it's on here.

    Nikon D700 knackered.

I don't know any of you will be able to help, but it can't hurt to ask. The D700 we use at work won't recognise empty cards any more, it's keeps showing them as full, I have updated it with the latest firmware but this hasn't fixed the problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

As above, I need a plastic sump tray, can I just go down my local breakers and get any old Mk2 plastic sump tray?

    Can't find reverse any more.

Today I discovered that the gear stick can no longer find reverse. I've recently fitted uprated engine and gearbox mounts and it's got harder and harder to select 1st, it just wont go in at all, it usually finds 3rd instead of 1st. So the other day I discovered that if I lift the reverse nob...

    New Powerflex arb bushes spilt.

I've got a set of inner powerflex arb bushes and they're not solid, there's a seam where they open up. Is this normal, I mean are they meant to be solid and you slide them on the arb from the end, or are they designed to be pushed on using the seam that opens up?

    Powerflex arb bush sizes?

I know this has been covered before, i've done a search, and tbh i've read so many threads I think i've gone mad. I just want to make sure i've got the right arb bush sizes for my car before I go to ECP tomorrow, as they're not the best a getting the parts right in the Coventry branch. I have...

    Engine rattle (vid included)

The dog kennel has developed some kind of metallic rattle, it sounds like it's some kind of washer or gasket's loose and it's coming from around the belts or cam cover. I have no idea what it could be and the engine doesn't sound like a black cab that much, so I thinking it's not the dephaser...

    GW 200 Stratford Upon Avon

Bloke in a GW 200 waved at me as I was driving out of Stratford Upon Avon on the Warwick RD A439, I was in an Iceburg 172 going in the opposite direction. It gave me a nice little feeling, as I gave up waving at RS Clio's quite some time ago, as people would just look at me like I was mad...

    Black Ph Quick A46

About 9:45 on the way to Stratford Upon Avon, very tidy Black Ph1 172 on the A46, being driven by a bloke with a shaved head and glasses. No CS stcker, but it was such a nice example it's obviously looked after. Worth a post I think.

    Old Fords are cool!!!

Being a teenager in the 90s, XR3i's, RS Turbo's & Cosworth's were all over the place, so I never really cared about them, even when I was sitting in the back of my mates XR3i. But recently i've been seeing all sort of old Fords about and ive just realised how cool they actually are. I'd have...

So who's passed an MOT with no airbags then?

I know there has been previous threads about the new MOT rules, but i'd specifically like to know who has passed an MOT with after-market seats and steering wheels? I've sat in a few 1*2s with nice seats and steering wheels, the driving position and feel is far better than mine, so it's...

    Wheel bolt removal tool help.

So I tried to take the wheels off today so I can give them a thorough cleaning, but the Renault wheel brace couldn't cut it, it was bending so much it worried me, not to mention the fact that it's so short I can't get any decent leverage. I need some advice on what's the best thing to do the...

Bolt just spinning (not cross threaded)

I'm trying to change my rear exhaust hanger/bracket, 2 of the bolts unscrew fine but the third one just spins and won't come out. Removing Mk2 clock surround?

I've searched loads but other than removing the whole dash and masking it up, I can't seem to find a thread or any guides on how to remove the centre console surround for spraying. The bit around the clock and vents, anyone know how to do this or am I just sh*t at searching?

    182 Bean Coventry

I've got a connector that doesn't connect to anything

I was refitting the interior light console and seem to have a spare connector that doesn't go anywhere. I've plugged the light connector back in and put the climate control sensor back in it's place, but this just seems to be spare. Could it be for something on another model that my car...
