i've opened mine.. stick em on a rack in the oven and keep checking to make sure they dont get too hot have some screwdrivers at the ready.. you may have to do a few 'bakes' and keep running the screw driver round to get all the glue out.. they eventually come apart with a lot of persuasion and...

i bought the cams second hand from here from Laine_16v.. i supplied oil and filter and they quoted me wrong to start off with so they did me a fair bit of discount on what it would usually...

going to waxoyl things.. paint bits and hammerite the subframe etc whilst its all up and apart too
i think the plan is to buy a second hand box from here and have it completely recondiditoned by agency transmissions as they seem...
so i have now gone and stripped it all down and fitted a new clutch ready for a new gearbox to be sorted out!
hubs disconnected, shafts out, all the airbox ecu off, disconnected steering rack, dropped subframe, starter motor off, about to drop the box...
..and then this man turns up with...

think this was the problem haha! after watching loads of videos of people smugly using an alignment tool on other cars its needless to say i was a little suprised when it wouldnt locate properly!

ah thats awesome... :D just what I wanted to hear.. it looked straight... i nipped up the bolts very slightly and moved it into line then torqued them up.. il copy your response into my other thread for anyone using the search function on that too..

Fitting a new clutch..
never done it before so using various guides and threads to work through it..
So far successfully removed the subframe and dropped the gearbox out so its not going too badly so far..
I could just do with a few pointers here and there for support !

fred... the s**tty blue alignment tool that came with the valeo kit just doesnt really fit or hold anything in place.. doesnt seem to want to lock in like i expected.. ive centered it by eye it looks okay but i dont trust it.. should i get an aftermarket tool for it and re do it?
