I use the red silicone on my exhaust.
if the metal is cleaned correctly first the silicone sticks like glue and no blowing.
if it does blow just separate and re silicone
Yea
open the res.
pull out filter type thing.
look inside, you will find a nipple.
Put a correct size hose on nipple.
turn car on and watch the fluid pour out, as it's doing this refill with new fluid at the same time.
it's best to have someone turn the steering wheel lock to lock when...
Nah, takes about 2 hours diy.
The worst part is the Bolts, there is virtually no space but if you use the right socket extensions or a flexable extension its fine.
Just finished putting mine on, just waiting for silicone to dry then will tighten it all up.
This is the one

its what i have on mine.
Ah ok.
well there is a Kangoo engine mount that fits the 172, and is stiffer. Thats the one i would go for.
Easy to do yourself. Jack under engine and undo all the bolts.
Well, It seem to work ok and there is a decent bite, do we think there is plenty of life left in the old girl yet?
about to do a whole break refresh in sept so cant afford a new clutch too!
Well if it's been a while since it was last done it just makes sense to replace the kit.
but if money is tight you could just buy the belt for 20 quid and get a known working alternator from eBay or the like and get them fitted. I wouldn't reuse the belt.
Also the jubilee clip method does...
Its not too hard.
BUT when you do it you need to use a NEW Aux belt and better yet the full kit (around £60)
If the belt is reused it may snap, and if it snaps there is a 80% change the cambelt will eat it and then its a 100% chance its Bye Bye engine.
Takes about 2 hours at the most.
Hey
noticed when I use the clutch pedal it squeaks. Is there a way to oil it's cable to stop this? The pedal seems very loose roo, as in there is lots of play in it when released
Also when releasing the clutch the car feels to jolt each time. And the only way to stop that is to change gear...
