Hmm, I'm only about -1.5 degrees as well...lol
Good to hear that the sidewall issues can be sorted with a bit of extra pressure though. They seem a decent tyre for being so cheap!
RSR's sound like another good option then, cheers guys. Don't they have a few issues with sidewall wear though in the dry?
Ideally I'm really just after a decent dry tyre but just one that won't aquaplane everywhere if I hit a bit of rain on the roads lol.
I'm looking for a set of track tyres for my track session at CSS this year. Ideally I want to just drive down and back on them to save taking an extra set of wheels, so I want something that'll manage any unexpected rain on the journey there/back (obviously if the weekend is a washout I'll just...
Lol! Nope, that's just sitting browsing CS and bookface and stuff!
Screen is about 50% brightness or less usually, play services I've stopped from keeping the phone awake and auto starting. Close background apps regularly, GPS off etc. There's nothing that looks unusual in my battery use...
How is everyone's battery life on CM12?
I'm only getting about 8 hours out it with average use and that's after I've been through and tried to maximise my battery life. I can go through it in about 3 hours with heavy use.
If it's definitely the input shaft bearings then I'd probably recommend just trying to get another gearbox for a half decent price and fit that. Not a difficult job really, it's just time consuming! Done one the other week in about 4-5 hours though with the help of a couple of folk who knew what...
Pretty sure the input shaft bearing can't be replaced without taking the box apart. What you're seeing in that picture is just the release bearing guide tube.
Not much of an update, but been on holiday this week and took a drive out today through some of the roads up the north of Scotland.
The roads were quite simply awesome! Wish I lived up here! [emoji23] That's the only pictures I really took at that one spot. The rest was just driving although...
Yeah, somehow it seemed the best way [emoji23]
Cheers mate, I might end up stripping down one of the other boxes in future and rebuilding it if I'm feeling brave, so may still call in some help lol!
I think the steering was exactly that. Loosened the rack off a little and got it to the point...
So, to put a bit of a conclusion on this for now, picked up a cheap box to use the diff cup from but ended up just replacing the whole gearbox with another ph1 one.
Was finished about half 11 on Friday there, night before I went on holiday lol so when I get back home I'll probably pull my old...
Might be the switch in the gearbox. If the rear wiper doesn't come on when you select reverse and they're in auto mode then it'll be the switch in the box
Edit: beaten to it lol
Ph2 centre section is shorter because the cat is longer. As above ktec ones come with a sleeved bit at the front that's a different length for ph1 or ph2. Worst case scenario you phone up ktec to get the shorter sleeved bit if it doesn't fit. No idea how much they'd charge for it though.
Edit...
Today has been a long ass day! Acquired new gearbox yesterday, attempted to remove diff cup today. Tried, failed, gave up, and decided to fit another box.
So thanks to @Fraser.J. and @Stu. I got a new box fitted tonight, and all is well again. Got the box out in under 2 hours, and the new one...
Won't be using the whole box so no changes to the ratios but I hope that me mucking about with the diff holds up lol.
Its only fun fixing it when the weather is good. Been lucky this week, its usually pissing down lol!
There was a guide for the centre caps on here mate, I'll find it when I'm...
Only need 4 gears at knockhill anyway 😂😂
This is just essentially the same box as the ph1 but with a couple of different ratios. 1st and 2nd are shorter, and 4th and 5th are longer. Think its possibly a diesel box, maybe from a Clio dci or a kangoo or something. Will at...
I has acquired another gearbox....
Its a JC5-120 and I have absolutely no clue what car it's originally from, but it has a circlip diff in a better condition than mine, so I'll be swapping that part out tomorrow.
Lol nah, circlip is still in place. For now...
Might just try it then with the 182 cup. It won't be seeing trackdays like this anyway, but I'm going up the north of Scotland for a week on Saturday and want to take the car and enjoy some of the roads up there! Am I right in saying then it should...
Pretty much none. Oil was changed when the garage replaced the CV boot though, about 4 weeks ago. It's seen about 200-300 miles since then. I did notice some black streaking left in the basin once I put the oil back in the box but there was no proper metal filings really noticeable.
I take it...
I'm wanting to fit a new one of those tripod cup bits that the n/s shaft goes into as mine is worn. Or is this not even possible? Its just that one bit I was looking at changing.
Edit: just read your edit lol. They were like that for a full 2 hour track session... I'm not sure if I got lucky or...
So I've managed to find out that the 182 is different as it bolts in, instead of being held by a circlip. Does anyone know if the actual cup part of it is any different though, or is it just how it's held in that changes between the different gearboxes?
From what I've read it's a bolted plate...
@Dan@SJM @NorthloopCup (first two names that came to mind, sorry lol!) Do either of you guys know if this diff cup bit is the same across all the gearboxes or will I need one specific to a ph1?
Wish I'd knew that earlier. I put it all back together in a rage lol just to get the car moveable. Do you know if it's the same part across all the JC5 boxes?
I've got a nut acting as a spacer between the subframe and the seat mount. Could take that out and lower it maybe 5mm or so. Can also adjust it on the sidemount. There's 3 heights at the front and back. Its on the highest at the back and I raised it up one at the front to tilt the seat back...
Evening all, had an issue with the car that I managed to diagnose as a driveshaft (wet side), so I got another and went about replacing it tonight.
This was the old shaft
As you can see, the bearings have all fucked off somewhere inside the box.
Worse though, I found it had done this to the...
