@Cribert I take it you're still looking into getting the belts done on your car? I just saw a post on facebook saying Rentec in Edinburgh are offering 10% off all work until the end of the month if that's of any interest to you mate.
Adding addition steering lock is only going to introduce problems IMO. Drift cars manage it because they're RWD and have no driveshafts to worry about at the front. Start increasing the steering angle on a FWD car and I'd be worried about ruining CV joints and having driveshafts pop out
It may have done tbh Kev, the torch I used to check it wasn't hugely bright. If its still sunny when I leave work later I'll hopefully get a better idea if its marred or not.
I'll try tripple on a finishing pad next. Didn't really think that would have been enough to do anything lol, hence why...
That was about 3 passes I think. Spread the polish about then went over it twice by which point the polish residue was pretty much disappearing before doing a final light pass. That second picture wasn't cleansed though, forgot about that! Don't have access to anything to measure paint depth...
Bit of recent polishing done on the daily. White hex pad and Menz SF4000 (106FA on the old school naming I think). Was amazed at how much correction there was from a combo with such a low level of cut.
There's a few deeper marks left, anyone any ideas as to what combo I'd be best moving to...
I had a pretty busy day on Saturday and never managed to get on here and let you know I wouldn't be able to make it. Sorry about that!
I have found that people do forget about meets unless the thread stays fairly active. I usually resort to tagging the people who say they're going a few days...
Aye, trying to adjust my gear linkage before it got dark! Will keep an eye out for you mate, feel free to stop if you're passing and I'm out at the car!
Done some gear linkage modification last night since I'm too poor to go buy a new PMS shifter and I refuse to settle for anything less unless it's free.
Cue the linkage meeting a hacksaw... Resulting in this now being 3rd gear:
And this being 4th:
Quite an improvement for 15 minutes work...
OK ignore that idea. It's too dark now lol!
So this was before. It almost wasn't black anymore...
And then after using autofoam at the dilution I mentioned:
Photos from a distance don't really show much hence why I've not got any of the full car, however, I'm very impressed by it!
Cheers Dave, that clears that up then. Feel a bit better about using it now!
I just tried it out there anyway, diluted about 200-300ml into a 1 litre bottle (probably a bit strong but I have no LSP just now anyway so just wanted to test cleaning power).
The car hasn't been washed in about 2...
I'm tempted to do it. Want to get out again before the end of the year but I don't know if I can justify the 170 quid for the open pit on the 25th. If I do people are more than welcome to jump in as passengers!
Ordered myself a load of new cleaning gear at the end of last week there. One thing I ordered was 5L of Bilt Hamber Autofoam to try out as a new snow foam. Now, boredom in work today led to me having a look at the safety data sheet for it and it's supposedly got a pH of 13.
Surely at that it...
I take it the glow plug light is staying on all the time? It doubles as an 'electrical fault warning light' which is probably the most useless thing ever as it could be nearly anything in the car. Always takes forever to start when that happens. My old dci used to do it too.
Going by that code...
Toe out is where the fronts of the tyres are further out than the rears, so if you were looking straight down they'd be like this:
\-----/
Only very slightly though, hardly enough to notice by eye. It tends to make the car wander and follow the road more. Most road cars run a slight amount of...
Inner wear says too much toe out. Which also explains the pulling to the left, as it'll tend to follow the camber of the road. I'd bet its just needing alignment done. Does your steering wheel now sit slightly to the left when driving straight by any chance?
Also, correct about the bearing...
It's not that hard really, its just a tedious job! Get a heat gun and wallpaper scraper and you'll get most of it off. Then what's left over spray with tar remover and it'll wipe clean.
Just don't burn yourself with the heat gun like I did lol! Made a point of wearing gloves after that...
Been tempted to try sessions days but after seeing that I'm not sure! I was getting annoyed just watching that video [emoji23][emoji23]
Think I'll be booking on to the open pit at the end of the month though so will probably see you there!
That's quite noticeable then! I'm shifting to 4th about the same point. Hopefully with that, plus removing the aircon and power steering pump from the aux setup it'll make a fairly big difference.
Yup, it was your posts that made me look into them a bit more [emoji85] [emoji23] I figure it's...
Been looking into lightened flywheels recently. Really tempted to try one out as I'm planning on getting my spare gearbox refurbed and fitted with a new clutch for next year anyway.
Anyone had one before? Are they a worthwhile mod for clios?
Find a set of springs that are meant to be used with adjustable height collars (like what you'd get in a set with front coilovers and separate rear springs and shocks) and bin the collars off. It should sit about right for what you're after. Seen KW rears used like this in a stripped car and it...
Time for a little update. My flocked dash arrived on Friday. Well, half of it. There's no centre section to it or little storage bit where the passenger airbag is. Both of which looked to be included. I did get it cheap but I'm still not too happy about it.
Freshly unwrapped!
Fitted it...
