Try slacken off the inlet bolts with engine running .... Sounds bizarre but I had it and I didn't tighten the bolts correctly .

The jubilee clip works great , but if you can get a tool then use it , if not then jubilee clip , simples lol

Mine was a similar noice mate , it turned out to be the aux belt tensioner , belts have been done and viola lol

I know 5-40 is original , but 1040 Fuchs was recommended by renault .

I have the same problem too , I just thought it was how they tick over , although I do have a ticking noise that is coming from somewhere that's driving me crazy .

Ok so I have new gen renault shocks and springs fitted a couple of months ago and now my top mounts are coming loose , this is strange as I have a windy gun to whizz them tight then low and behold they come loose after a few miles , is it worth changing the top mount or is it something I've not...

Normally mate if the inlet lets in air then it idles poorly , but it could be a lot of things , especially if it's been modded

Have you tried crank sensor and coolant temp sensor ?
