Very very very very simple answer there mate
It is VERY light, very cheap, very easy to fit (literally bolts straight on) and I wanted to use the car :D
I have no doubt at all that it's weaker than the cup rack and the Twingo would have been a better solution but I wanted to go hoon it...
It is literally NOT IMPORTANT.
If you want cheap that bolts straight on and you can replace easy - DCi rack.
If you want robustness and strength - Twingo rack.
Clearly I have not a f**king clue what I'm talking about and neither does Fred as he's used a Twingo rack on a 500+bhp turbo'd clio...
Did you just draw around your bumper on a bit of card and then freehand the splitter a bit bigger?
How did you do the bolt holes to line up with the subframe?
As I said a year ago - way too loud. Mine now has an extra silencer fitted and it still does my head in.
The only advantage they have are they are seriously light and fit well - but when you have to cut and weld another silencer in just to protect your long term hearing that kinda outweighs...
You are really REALLY strange
The twingo one is clearly stronger, better built, cheaper to buy with low miles on and proven in a rally scenario
You're argument about the point nearest pinion being key is retarded - that's entirely why the point near the pinion is cast, because it's stronger...
The twingo rack is WAY stronger.. seriously.
Both mounting points are part of the casing.
The passenger mounting point on the dci rack I could bend with a screwdriver
Right guys/gals
A few of us are having a meet on Sunday
5pm - Pride of Lincoln pub, just off the main bypass
If you're about come and say hi. If you're on your way back from modded nats then pop in for a coke
More the merrier :D
We'll be hanging around for an hour I would have...
The lad who mapped his car did something quite impressive with the Omex 600 and managed to get some Gems firmware/software running on it - as I believe the Omex 600 is a very basic spec gems ecu anyway.
Really impressed, but as you say it's still not a proper 3d map and the Omex is too slow...
Yup gizzmo suck ass.
My mate had one on his 106 turbo project when he bought it, we binned it off and used ECU control. He's only got an omex 600 so not ideal but still better than the gizzmo
Ahhhh nice! That's literally what I want to make - was hoping to design something that could bolt to the 2 bumper bolts at the bottom - or make it go the full way under the engine to replace the engine shield and bolt into those 4 riv nuts
You noticed much difference with it on track?
Yes... I think the problem here is that the PMS kit is a fantastically designed bit of kit that seriously improves handling, whereas the engine cover that doesn't come with Cup's anyway is just a cosmetic finish for people who want to show their engine bay off at shows
It's very rare you find...
What do you run? I sold my carbon one as I want to make something a bit better for downforce.
Interesting... That would be quite cool if it fit a bit better.
What is it?
Yeah I'm running ET43 2118's
The spacers are 20mm FK bolt to hub ones, very nice. BUT because I'm running jamsport bells...
Cheers I'm gonna whack it up on axel stands at the weekend and have a play
It made the same noises at 2 places at brands hatch a few years back and I just assumed the carbon splitter was whacking the track, but when I sold the splitter last week it had no damage lol
Ahh bonza - I'll keep the rear ARB on stiff setting then, raise the suspension 10mm all round and chop the bits off that are catching - then soften the front up to about half again.
It did grip well with the front set softer it was just rubbing on anything
I guess I need to stop going for...
Yeah I do but I'm not very keen on it
Crap design with the plate that sits behind the rear shock bolts - it keeps making my shock bolts work loose. And it went rusty like the day after I fitted it
Might try taking it off for my next track day but I remember the car being very understeery...
Hrmm I wouldn't say they go unrated... I think they are 9000x better than the Bilsteins I had and short of AST's the best suspension setup I've felt on a Clio.
Northloop - have you fitted stiffer ones on the front of yours? I felt the back was absolutely fine you could slide it about all day...
Fronts were on about 2/3rds and rears on about 3/4's
Yes - mine at some point has been hitting the chassis leg too lol
I still haven't had it back out the garage to look at the brackets yet - I'm gonna get it out this weekend and see if I can angle grind some stuff back
Probably raise it...
