As far as I am aware my 182 engine has spun a big end shell. Getting a new engine put in next week so all good.
I have decided to keep the old engine and rebuild it as a spare (Might make a forged build), Getting to the point as far as the crank is concerned is it worth buying a new one or...
Only main insurance companies will charge you extra for a non fault claim I.e Admiral. I had an accident completely not my fault and put my insurance up by £300. Was 5 months short to be able to go with Greenlight who don't charge extra for non fault claims. As far as injury is concerned, do...
Oh yeah so it is, learn something new every day :)
I will be interested I need to get my car booked into the garage but I busy for next couple weeks so won't be for a while yet.
Thanks
Oh right fair enough, just my engine decided to break itself at 7000rpm I think it's something up top that broke (Rocker or spring) so thinking it may need a top end rebuild so might see about cams.
ARP bolts may be a good investment later on. Is it a common thing for the standard bolts to snap ?
After having a little but if engine trouble I thinking about rebuilding the top end. I decided to go for some high lift cams. The 2 main ones I have been looking at are as above, It's not massive power gains that I'm after more about better drivability. One thing I don't want is a dodgy idle...
It's more important to change them due to age as they perish due to heat cycles making them brittle. My clio 182 had 54k on the clock and was changed once before.
On my engine I have noticed there is an egg shape hole on the bottom of the inlet but on the rocker cover its looks like a hole should be there but it's just a flat plate. So the rocker cover breather is blanked off basically.
Isn't a new engine for them like £150? Why is a new engine out the question? Don't you know anyone handy with a socket set who could change the engine, it wouldn't take long as there is so much room in the bay.
May have been covered before but I couldn't find an exact answer.
From what I have worked out they use the same block just have different inlets? So if I had a 736 engine it would go in a 182 if I used all my original parts off the old 738? Is that correct.
Just you see just the block...
