Peugeot have lost their way in the hot hatch department, theyve had some superb sports models, but currently they suck!
This is coming from me a big Peugeot fan...
The "normal" 206 GTi is a sack of sh!t, I wanted one a few years back to replace my 106 GTi and after driving a few I bought a 306 Rallye instead.
The 172 runs rings round it...
Main things I did one mine were...
Uprated copper cored rad
low temp thermostat
low temp rad fan switch
high speed rad fan motor
some new hoses & clips
kevlar turbo heatshield
Keep it running cool and it will keep on running!
That was around the changeover point though, T-Reg some where still China others Mauritius
As for the bonnet prop and not gas struts, it had been altered from the factory, theres not even an attachment on a phase 2 to fit one, they all have gas struts
Should have had the gas struts as all of the GTis had them from ther factory, even the P-Reg pre leather ones!
Its not China Blue either, its Mauritius Blue from 99 onwards, very similar but China is a little lighter and was only a 98 colour. My old one was China, my Mrs current one is...
