Round town they are a little worse than a Clio on juice, but on a run I get 37mpg so hardly bad on fuel...
As for insurance, should be cheaper than a 172/182!? :S
It still amazes me how many people underestimate the 306 :approve:
Love the "must be well modded" and "it'll have throttle bodies" comments as well!
My old Rallye made 151bhp @ wheels with just a panel filter, my current GTi-6 made 148bhp @ wheels with a K&N cone filter...
More than likely just a GTi-6 or Rallye with a couple of mods...
I've owned a 306 Rallye, a Clio Cup and a 306 GTi-6, there's not a massive difference between them all on the road, and if anything the 306's are a little better top end due to the gearing, with the Clio being slightly quicker...
I bought the Cup from new back in 2003, had it about 9 months and then sold it to get a Civic Type-R. Had that about 6 months and flogged it as I wanted to downgrade and get a cheaper car for a while (getting married, doing stuff on the house, etc) so I got the GTi-6 as I'd had a 306 Rallye...
I actually used to have a 172 Cup myself, that's why I could tell it wasn't standard...
The R5 is my "play car" (got a 306 GTi-6 as my main car) but I've been using it a lot lately with the nicer weather & dry roads, makes a change to actually get some traction!
It was only...
This was more bloke than lad, looked to be late 20's/early 30's to me, but yeah dark hair...
Had an induction kit on for sure, sounded mint when he booted it past!
Yeah, that works out as roughly 187bhp @ fly, so not a massive power figure...
However, Chris has the R-Sport ECU so it revs higher in gear, better on the drag strip and he removes the rear seats too.
My near standard Cup used to run 14.5's all day long though, only had a filter, was...
Anyone on here own the 53-Reg 172 Cup that I followed from Blackburn to Accrington earlier this evening, be about 6:15pm, I was in the white R5 GT Turbo... ;)
In theory the GTi-180 should be a hell of a good car, it comes from a stable of cracking hot hatches, however the reality is that it's not... :dapprove:
Peugeot have made some of the best hot hatches about, but the 206 aint cast from the same mould!
You really think they all leave the factory with bang on 197bhp
There are always good/bad examples, mine was a quick car, it ran the 1/4 in 14.5secs @ 97mph with just the zorst, not stripped out.
Jap cars have cr@p earthing systems, the kits seems to stabilise the system and make the engine run smoother and some say gain a couple of bhp as well... definately does something...
One example is that at idle, if you operated say an electric window, the revs would dip slightly and it would...
No, at that time had a cat back zorst, although otherwise standard.
On another RR day when I had a BMC CDA air filter and earthing kit as well, it made 176bhp @ wheels, roughly 215bhp @ fly, much more of a VTEC kick with the BMC fitted.
It's just the way the power is delivered, the torque is there, but they can feel a little flat when off VTEC due to them being so strong when the VTEC is engaged.
