I'd get the Sonus SFX kit instead >>> http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing/polishing-machine/meguiars-g220-complete-sonus-kit/prod_415.html
pads are better IMO
I bought my G220 from Tim at CYC, top bloke :)
buy a Meg's G220 instead of a PC, it's a UK model, 240v so no transformer needed, comes with a warrenty, hard plastic carry case, etc...
pads wise I'm using the Sonus SFX ones, not the cheapest but they're durable and last a long time, plus you can get them in both 4" & 6"
fluids, I'm...
I use the Sonus SFX pads, in both 4" & 6" sizes, with the Poorboy's SSR compounds and Autoglym SRP, finishing off with Collinite 476S wax by hand
see my previous post for pad/polish combos
that pic shows it after a hit with Poorboy's SSR2.5 and a Sonus SFX-1 (yellow) pad
I then followed up with Autoglym SRP on a white pad, which didn't remove any more defects but brought it up to a superb deep shine, ready for wax over the top, which I'll do by hand
it's a 1999 car with 79k...
My G220 arrived on Friday and I had a quick session on the wifes 106 GTi to try it out...
As you can see, it was swirled to death originally and the G220 got them out
Not done the whole car yet as I didn't have time, but will be doing it soon and it should look amazing, just...
The 172 is quicker as standard, but don't underestimate the 106 GTi, especially if it's had any breathing mods...
I've had both and the 106 is a cracking car!
Dez, what gear did he run it in?
It made 147bhp @ wheels when I ran it, but at the time it only had ~3k miles on the clock from new and was standard apart from the Viper.
Awesome's rollers aint famed for being the best though, so as I told you before you went, take the results with a pinch...
ah yes... the time of year is upon us when we get all the "I crashed my Cup" posts... :dead:
I had a few close calls when I had mine, it was actually one of the reasons I sold it
It's not actually the belt that snaps though...
The tensioner pulley on the early cars was subject to failing, or sometimes the water pump fails, which results in the belt slipping and pistons meeting valves! :dead:
Hence why on both mine the belt, tensioners and water pump were all done...
I've owned a 306 Rallye, a 172 Cup, and a GTi-6 as well, trust me the Clio is not massively faster in the real world...
The Clio is quicker off the line due to being lighter and the closer gearing, but the 306 is stronger at higher speeds due to the ratios of the 6 speed box. Handling wise...
What so 167bhp from a normally aspirated 2.0 16v engine without anything fancy like VVT over 10 years ago!?
Then there was the 1.9 Mi16 engine pumping out 160bhp before that.
No, Peugeot are useless... ;)
Just on tuning parts alone?
So including the cost of the car to start with, how much is that in total!?
Pretty poor gains as well, 172bhp to 230bhp for £6k is lame! :S
Well the Clio gearbox struggles to cope with the standard 172bhp so the SX gearbox is ok! ;)
So many people have gearbox problems with Clio's, myself included, I had a new box under warranty, they are made of cheese!
