Run cmd then ipconfig and see what your default gateway is - that's the router IP.

It should be 192.168 not 198.162.

And, those family packs if I remember, only cover Mac's under one roof.. so, they aren't "family" more "household" I think.

If you have Vista, it's probably Search? I turn it off from scanning anything but the start menu - it's stupid. It's MAJORLY flawed compared to Spotlight on OSX.. but hey..

Ever since they came on the scene, they're the ones who have really been making a difference to the desktop Linux campaign.

You don't need to login locally. And, if it's XP, as soon as you remote desktop it'll log the local user off as it has a 1 session limit.

Remote desktop won't let you login if you have no password (by default anyway).. so you have to set at least something.

Its annoying. I had it working, and I was trying to bid on something on eBay - left it right till the last minute, and it was on the sofa.. everytime I moved, I had a different desktop - nearly lost the damn item! Yea, there's shock sensors in it.. so you can do that. But.. it nearly lost me...

With a new PC, my advice is get OEM. The main difference is you get a box and a "kind of" manual. Also, OEM is tied to that individual machine, so if you change the PC, you can't take OEM software with it. Retail is massivly more expensive too.

Vista is just an Operating System, so won't come with that. You need to install an Office package. www.openoffice.org for a free one.
