Net access is messed up so want to login to the admin panel of my router but it keeps coming back with page can't be found. I have reset the router but still no joy. It's a Netgear router and usually enter 198.162.0.1

It's teh MR814 so it's pretty old, is it time for an upgrade?

Do the following to see if the computer sees the router:

Start -> Run -> typpe 'cmd' and click 'Ok' -> type 'ping 192.168.0.1' and press enter.

If it responds with anything other than a reply then it doesn't see the router properly.

It should be 192.168 not 198.162.

http://192.168.0.1/ is for MR814 more commonly known as MR814v2 not sure where you got the 162 from

  • The computer may not have received an IP address. Restart it to have an IP dynamically assigned (or run “winipcfg” in Windows ME or earlier, or “ipconfig” utility in Windows NT/XP), and then launch the browser, or
  • Remove proxy settings on your Internet browser, or
  • Remove the dial-up settings on your browser.
but i would try192.168.0.1 first

Got a problem with the actual broadband as I don't even get net access when I plug the cable straight into my laptop so phoned up support and they are sending a guy out to have a look. Got to wait till the 12th of November though!!

Will try and sort the router later as I got fed up and went home...lol

I have been using http://192.168.0.1/ just typed it wrong in the post

i take it you have a adsl modem built into your laptop ? as you know you cannot just put in a RJ45 Cable direct into pc/Laptop unless you have an adsl modem built in ofwhich i dont think 99% of pc/lappy have
