From a technical point of view, some parts seem a bit flakey. SP1 is available soon hopefully, which *should* fix all of the issues I've found so far. The issues I've found tho are FAR too geeky for most people to care about though! ;)
From a users point of view, some things are just...
Well, my Macbook Pro is sat in the bottom of a wardrobe - my nice Dell laptop, which was purchased a year later, is sat on my lap writing this post... so not always true ;)
Yes, 1 router is fine..
and yes, I wouldn't expect anything around the £50 range to be solid and not require rebooting tho.. :)
Obviously it all depends on which one you use, how much traffic you pass etc.. most are really bad with what's called routing/nat tables filling up and falling on their...
Just a quick note, if you do go wireless, and you need top stuff to get through the walls etc.., I'd recommend paying a bit extra.. (something like a Cisco 871w for cable, or 857w for DSL).
Cisco stuff is expensive, but I've yet to find any other wireless networking gear which works so well.. (...
It is if wireless doesn't work, yes.
If wireless does work, get everyone on that.. easier..
(Altho, 20Mb on Wireless, if you max it, you'd need a reasonable signal I'd have thought.. )
If you can be bothered with cabling the place, and you are allowed to, then do it.. but if it was me, I'd be...
There will be some sort of Fair Usage policy I would have thought..
It will work by wireless, or you'd need to run some CAT5 cabling through the house to each PC ;)
Wired or Wireless will be the same internally be it on any connection.
Wired is ALWAYS better.. but not always the best solution. I have wired for my desktops but wireless on laptop - I wouldn't ever get rid of wireless now.. I use it everywhere in the house.. but it is solid.
With ADSL you...
I'd personally never choose Cable over a DSL connection for example, but then that's me from a more technical point of view. DSL providers give you more flexibility..
As a "plug into router and use" sort of thing, you can't do much wrong by using Cable :)
Depends what you wanna do I guess...
Sky want EVERYONE on Sky+ I think.. as once you have it, you very rarely would want to get rid.
It's one of those things you wonder how you coped before without.. so it makes sense for them to get you on +
When I got the Free Box and Free installation offer, they STILL tried to make me pay installation and get vouchers..
"Uh, I want free box and installation like the offer says"
"Er.. you won't get vouchers then?"
"I don't care.."
"OK, so free box and free installation.."
Heh.
Right, makes sense.. except I didn't think I was going to get this price rise this time round.. ahwell..
I'm in a cabled area, but I still prefer Sky.. wouldn't change.. but that's another matter :p
You have to go on the Interactive and tell them to send a paper copy.. otherwise, they don't.
I don't mind paying for it.. I think it's quite reasonable (?) but, I'm just not sure what they're charging me this month, haha.
It's odd though, because it's always a sensible number, £43.50, £45, etc.. for the Sky World, but, I'm not sure where these odd pennies are going.
Will wait for my statement.
Just taken my monthly subscription of £44.08 from my bank account.
Well, it's not £43.50, it's not £45.. so what the hell is it?!
I was on the £43.50 one last month.. don't think I got caught with the last price hike to £45..
Statement not come yet.. and I don't think the interactive...
k810i.
I've just got a new HTC Touch (Smartphone, WM6) and I REALLY miss my k800i..
Infact, I hate this Smartphone.. (and I'm really into my gadgets etc.. Heh).
Horrible.
