Aero is a pretty big Vista feature - if you can't run that, it's about as useful as XP for most people. Search is it's saving grace, if anything.

Yea, because the new cool things in Vista, OSX did in 2005. Microsoft also used a Macbook Pro for demo'ing Vista - there's a video around of that!

Kind of. You won't think it's that good if you're running Tiger already tho? The "cool" stuff which would be useful, Tiger did in April 2005.. It is a nice upgrade to XP tho! I'd definetly run Vista on a PC.

It's getting at the fact that PCs would probably need upgrading in order to experience everything Vista offers - which is true, is it not? For example, http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,2068351,00.asp 94% don't meet the requirements needed for a experience of Vista Premium.

Dunno, Only used laptops and they were all when IBM owned them. Dunno if they changed anything etc.. but IBM stuff was always high quality.

I work with lots and lots of Dell equipment now.. servers, desktops and laptops, and they're always pretty good for the money. Definetly wouldn't say they're any cheaper than equivilent priced products..

I'd recommend looking at Dell's with that budget. I rate them quite highly for that sort of money - they do have some good offers on every now and again.

www.adiumx.com is an AWESOME client. ;) Unfortunatly, OS X only.. It's so good, it actually helped me make my decision to buy my MBP :p So so so so good. No messing around, basic chat client which looks nice/does everything I need. WHY there is a need for smilies, nudges, junk in a chat...

See, I can see flaws in every OS, and can see the merits of them all too. There is no right or wrong answer, My thoughts: All Operating Systems are crap; some are just less crap than others at certain things. Thank you. ;)
