Had standard Contis on at the time, which were fairly well worn to start with so bascially had f00k all traction, although lateral grip was still pretty good.
When it dried out a bit I got to push it and I was very pleased... :D
I prefer driving fast round corners though... ;)

However a good blast up the strip is still a lot of fun! :D
Aye, me & Paddy both run at the same place (York) and its FIA approved timing gear, the same system as used at Santa Pod so pretty much as accurate as youre gonna get.
Plus, with the RR figures, we both used the same place, although was done on different days...
So explain how you would run an engine in correctly from new then...
I am genuinely interested and know that you actually do know what youre talking about! ;)

Mine was run in gently and I have 147bhp @ wheels... ;)
Also runs 14.5s so hasnt harmed my performance!
Then on the flip side, my mate hammered his mk1 172 from new and that has never been quick, my old 106 GTi was as fast and at 50k miles it sounds like a diesel on cold startup...
Interesting theory and yes it did seem to kick off when the Cup was launched...
Not so much agro when the mk2 was launched as it was slightly slower than the mk1 so no feathers to ruffle!
Theyre ALL great cars though, most of the parts are the same and we should stop fighting amongst...
Your initial thoughts on running it in are what I did mate and will be doing the same if/when I get another new car...
Stay under 4krpm for about 500 miles, then gradually build it up to 1000 miles and then give it full beans from then on!
You can reset the ECU back to default at any time by simply disconnecting the battery and leaving it for a few mins so it loses its memory!
This guy is talking sh!te though and the ECU will not "hold back" if you take it easy, its constantly reading and adjusting to suit, so if youre drivign...
You mean "sports cat" I pressume?!
No, that is not likely to be a sports cat, the only ones available are Janspeed/K-Tec ones and nothing like that, also only has 1 lambda...
Really?!
Most of it is the same car and built in the same factory, so I doubt the 182s will be built any better...
Am considering swapping my Cup in for a 182 as well, but the Cup is far from basic IMO, if you want that try a Rallye! ;)
Well, hes under no obligation to sell it, and to be honest its worth a lot more than that and hes unlikely to let you have it that cheap...
Be worth asking him what he will accept for it though and buying it as the Scorpion is a very good system and not too noisy either!
Are you coming to Pod on 4th April Tom???
Get that 182 up the strip and see what times it can actually run in real life, then we will know how they compare to the Cup for sure...
That goes out to any/all 182 owners!
Err... its more like 1 bhp/tonne less than a Cup, wont be noticable!
Performance figures show the Cup & 182 to be practically identical and on the road there will be no difference!
