Well, as some of you may know I had a problem with an engine mount in the Cup last night, so it was gonna have to go in ASAP and get sorted as it was not fit to drive...
So, I ring the dealer this morning, tell them whats wrong and they said get the AA to bring it down and theyll...
Just had a proper look with a torch and its just the rubber engine mount, the gearbox one...
Nowt serious, its a common one and a few too many fast starts and wheelspin in this mailto:cr@p">cr@p weather have caused this!
Just been over to my cousins to sort out some stuff with his computer and on my way back just now I got a couple of clunks on gear change then all of a sudden summat broke!!!
I kinda knew what it was, and I instantly thought engine mount, so I stopped, lifted the bonnet, rocked the...
Its basically a simple resistor that fools the IAT sensor and makes the car run as though it is colder, so advances the timing and increases the fuelling...
Dont bother!
Yeah, when chrs n nics R-Sportd Cup was on the rollers a couple of weeks ago it was still making good power all the way to 7800rpm!!!
Got the graph at home...
I drove my mates Cup in the first week of August and that was one of the first in the UK...
Hes had a mk1 172, a mk2 172, a mk1 V6, a Cup and now a mk2 V6, and all of them were one of the very first in the UK!!!
Nowt to do with his Dad owning our local main dealership or anything... ;)
Just what I was gonna say...
Go on the CTR forums and read the posts, youll soon see they aint perfect either and the UK built Hondas aint as well screwed together as the Jap built ones it seems!
p.s. Id be more than willing to let you use my Cup as another guinea pig!
Its also a hell of a lot easier to get the inlet manifold off on the Cup, as I had a look and the lack of aircon makes it much less hassle than on a 172.
Also, do you think its worth doing the exhaust manifold too?!
We re happy that the figures from the first RR day are pretty spot on, but the figures from last Saturday are way too high!!!
Theres no way on this planet a totally boggo 172 with only 1500 miles on the clock has 156bhp @ wheels.
It was a much colder day this time though, so as well as...
Nick,
The problem is that all the cars that re-ran again on Saturday were getting higher figures than they were when they ran 2 weeks earlier, so we are not happy comparing cars run on different days!
For example, SilverRSCs mk2 172 is totally 100% factory standard and when he ran first...
No...
But, Chris n nics Cup was run last time out and that has an R-Sport ECU, a de-cat, a zorst and a normal induction kit.
This is me vs him >>>...
When mine need changing Ill go for either Mintex M1144s, Ferrodo DS2500s or Pagids on the front, but stick to standard on the rear.
Your rear pads probably wont need changing yet either...
Not in the Cup brochure I have...
The rev counter may well read up to 8000rpm, but it definately does not rev that high, even with the R-Sport ECU fitted!!!
Ok, finally got round to doing the comparison between his original run when the car was standard, and as it is now, but only on the low boost setting as thats the only figures he got...
The Viper may only have shown a small improvement at peak in this case, but as I said in an earlier post the test conditions were far from ideal.
But... the peak power figure is not the whole story...
Look at the before & after graph >>>...
LOL
The red was the best, no doubt... ;)
Went out in my old Rallye as a passenger last night for the first time in ages, and its running 173bhp @ wheels now, so was keen to see how she went.
It is quick, but we then bumped into chris n nics Cup (with Nics bro driving) and they had a...
